After that maul I would have put it into the corner again. Still to be level after that last 20 is not a bad outcome.

Agreed. To be level after that last 20 is something.

Every time Papa steams in for a tackle I think he's going to take their head off.

To be fair he made a real effort to get low there but he's so big and when he's tackling smaller players it's not easy.

Every time he makes a tackle it's 50/50 if it's going to be a yellow card. Once you get the reputation he has it's hard to shake it

If they can stop giving away stupid penalties they'll walk this. Of course that'll never happen...

So no Connacht lads in the Ireland squad for Sunday. Very disappointing and not a fair reflection on our season especially in the half-back area.

I'm having my words for dinner after that first half performance.

If I were to put one player forward I would choose Gavin Thornbury. He would sort the Irish lineout issues

    Ffs. Lucky for long advantage.

    Edit
Worked out well in the end

Lucky the advantage was still going there

Wonder if there is a knock for Papalii there after half time and he was off while Bealham was on yellow. If not his conditioning still has a long way to go.

Papali'i isn't up to starting. He might be an option in the last 20 but he can't keep the pace from the start.

Jesus Christ what is Murray at! Dragons have nothing in attack, they wouldn't score in a month if we weren't giving away such stupid penalties.

Did the ref just shout at the tackler to release while the ball carrier was still pumping the legs? :pac:

The maul defence is really weighing this team down badly. 90% of the time it results in either a try or a penalty conceded.

Dragons haven’t taken a kick all night. They just want to maul it every time.

Honestly lads the maul defense is an absolute discredit to a professional team.

There is no way that wasn’t truck and trailer from Jamie Robert’s there

The ease with which the maul defence capitulated is alarming. 2nd time Blade was trying to hold up a maul running over the line on his own

Can't remember ever seeing a team with such a glaring weakness before.

It’s honestly the worst maul defence I’ve seen in a professional team. It must be like trying to win a fight with one arm tied behind your back.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,671 ✭✭✭Borders no.2

It's at the stage where we cant defend any maul. Might as well contest the lineout in that case.

Excited to see Dowling, high hopes for him.

    Connacht meet mauls
    Mauls meet connacht.

    Can't afford to miss those.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

Hibbard and Davies would struggle to make an AIL team
