    So a scientist says.

Interesting concept and for us to travel beyond our planet given the limitations of speed and the distances involved would suggest a 'cure' is required.

In the meantime an already over populated planet would raise morality issues, that could possibly be overcome by sterilisation?

It could quite easily become an issue in the not too distant future, and as Queen asks... 'Who wants to live forever?' Specifically would you accept a far greater lifespan if it meant being sterilised (assume you've not had kids) as a thought experiment?

It's not inconceivable to consider aging will be stopped or significantly slowed.

Yeah, the 135 year old Spring Chicken won't be leaving his home anytime soon. Maybe a Logan's Run type scenario might have to be adopted. You get to live free of aging issues until 200 years, but you need to be "clocked out" even if healthy to make way.

He doesn’t half know how to do hyperbole :pac:

We already have no age discrimination in the workplace, Governments around the world would only be too happy if a method were developed to allow people to work until they were 200 or 300 without needing to provide for maternity leave because the population are now replenished by cloning and growing human replacements in a lab to replace humans that might befall an unforeseen accident like being run over by a herd of Spanish unicorns they hadn’t seen coming...

    so go 5 galaxies over.

what do you find, more matter, same old laws of physics. oh look a lad with 5 arms. next year a lad with 6 arms. its still the same old shyte. like going to a foreign city, its still all just concrete and slightly different signposts.

the real journey/question is one of meaning.

I don't think aging will be cured through the use of drugs.

I do think it will be possible to cure aging in the future. Technology will get there if the human race survives long enough (no pun intended).

Imagine having cells that can replicate any cell in the body (we pretty much have that now with stem cells).

Then imagine a fleet of tiny robots bringing in these cells repairing the damage caused by aging. You'd be capable of keeping a heart in the same condition without it deteriorating. Same with eyesight etc.

Cancer and other illnesses and diseases would no longer be a problem either because these robots could just remove any dodgy cells as soon as they start to grow.

Far fetched - yes. Impossible - no.

And you could pay for them on your insurance. But, then you lose your job and cannot afford the bots. You start to age and... look 30! The Horror!!!
