It has already been reported that Omagh bombing suspect and former Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt has died of cancer.

However, in 2007, it was reported that another senior suspect died of cancer but he wasn't publicly named. Who was he?

Very odd that somebody who was suspected hasn't been named if they've died unless it was very low level suspicion.

If they were suspected of being closely tied to the mass murder, I'd have thought that some media outlet would've reported it.

If they were suspected of being closely tied to the mass murder, I'd have thought that some media outlet would've reported it.

According to this Telegraph article, which is behind a paywall, in 2000, the BBC had the names of 11 suspects other than those named on Panorama, some of whom were known to be involved in smuggling, but they didn't have terrorist convictions. Those named were Murphy, Daly, Campbell and Traynor - all are still alive.

Here's a deceased suspect whose name was published - I don't know if it's the one who was referred to in 2007.

The following article is from November of 2001.

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/paramilitary-funeral-for-real-ira-man-1.337494
'Real IRA' member, Kevin Murray (48), a father of two from Cox's Demesne, died from a brain tumour.

He was released from Portlaoise Prison several months ago on compassionate parole. He was serving 12 years for bomb-making offences.

    Here's an article from 2007.

    Seamus McKenna or Seamus McGrane?

It was McKenna who died, construction accident I think - widely named and a long family tradition

    Seamus McKenna or Seamus McGrane?

Both are dead - but not from cancer.

If that's meant to be a joke, it's not funny.

Who cares. They were traitors to the Irish people at a time when we were desperately trying to find peace after decades of violence. I wouldn't give them the publicity they crave.
