Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

thats good to know about the tempered glass , I went with the whitstone dome and the fingerprint reader is not quite as good as it was ,
the battery on the ultra improved a lot when I kept it at 60hz .

I'll give this a bit of time to adjust, but the optimisation is no where near as good as the pixels so far. Roll on the Pixel 6 end of the year :pac:

Google chrome is a bastard of an app for draining battery

I still have a pixel 3a and its still a great phone , I think if I even mention another phone i'll be divorced so the pixel 6 is out (maybe) , the ultra did settle after a lot of tinkering , putting apps into deep sleep and if I need to I can get over 6 hours on screen time .

I agree the battery will be much better on 60hz...but what is the point of having this phone if you do not use the premium features

Because no one fancies charging a phone twice a day.

I put mine up one Adverts, really not a fan of it.

Going by the leaks the new 'Samsung/Google Watch'team up sounds great but not looking forward to seeing the price

Need an update from my Watch Active and thankfully was persuaded by a user here to wait awhile and don't buy the Watch2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

Interested myself, i have the original galaxy watch, and some of the new health features seem interesting.

plus, wont it support google pay?

    sold...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,930 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Yep having Google pay on it is a big sell for me

Samsung Pay in Ireland was never a thing really for some reason

New series of Watches mid August release I imagine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

Has anyone went from s20+ to s21 ultra?

Was it worth it considering phone is only a year old ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

Unless you were getting a great trade in, dont imagine it would be a huge improvement. Its more like a S20+ S edition...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

Cheers thanks. I was looking at maybe selling my s20 + and getting the s21 ultra the reviews are brilliant but I haven't seen anything stating what your gonna notice between both models and if its worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

i have the s21 ultra, came from a note 9.

I thought the battery would be better, and i think i miss how the note felt in my hand, and the internal spen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,136 ✭✭✭✭How Soon Is Now

I'm happy with the s20+ I just tend to update phones after a year or two depending on what's on the market. I don't think the sd card thing is a big issue id be happy if the battery is better than what I have now and the screen, camera and general performance have improved.

    Any fix for this

For some reason the mobile data digit stays up on the corner of my phone even when connected to WIFI. Anyone know if I hit something by mistake and I can switch it off ?

Turning off mobile data makes it disappear but in the past the icon disappeared once i was connected to WIFI and i didn't need to manually turn off Mobile Data ? Its bugging me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,930 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Looks like my Galaxy watch active has kicked the bucket

Screen won't turn on at all, tried everything from holding the power key on and off charge, leaving the battery go dead and then try again. My phone picks up the watch and even displays a pairing code but nothing on the watch screen itself

Might as well wait out and get one of the new Watch4 models

Maybe wi-fi assist is turned on? I’m not sure if it’s still an option on the OS but it used to be anyway. Uses your mobile data to supplement the wi-fi connection if the latter is slow.

Anyone watch the Samsung unpacked event?

    Anything worthwhile in it?

Did they give a release date/price for the Watch 4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,930 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    https://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/events/unpacked/

    Only tuned in now

Some new Z phone, whos the irish guy presenting now ?

New phones look very impressive but the price will be through the roof.

Anyone noticed that you cant get into recovery mode now after the last update even with a USB-C cable connected? WHen holding volume up and side key my s21 Ultra just reboots every time. I normally wipe the cache partition every few months but havent been able to for the last while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,067 ✭✭✭jones

Update it seems the phone now has to be connected to a PC with the USB-c cable to work. (At least for me) very odd.

Anyone receive the Android 12 (OneUI 4.0) update yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,054 ✭✭✭✭Professey Chin

Yep. Got it pretty much on release on my S21+.

Not noticed any bugs yet and liking it so far. Permission manager and privacy notifications are nice. Interface is still pretty much the same (havent tried colour picker). Camera seems to be behaving better then it did on Android 11.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,067 ✭✭✭jones

Same here came in immediately the other day. All good with mine no issues and i like the update. I cleared the cache partition after the update (which i tend to do for all big updates)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,068 ✭✭✭MarkY91

Android 12 is a mess for me.

Where the **** is the clipboard gone? There's just a paste button now. All of my saved clips are gone. Gmail crashes all the time too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

odd, no 12 available for me to download. have a three and voadafone sim in it.

No update yet for my Ultra S21 sim free

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,068 ✭✭✭MarkY91

Anyone else having issues since updating?

My phone is so laggy that it's like having a budget Tesco phone

    Gmail crashes all day everyday

DJI fly (app for my drone) simply doesn't work anymore. Drone is useless now.

    No clipboard anymore.

Sending videos on WhatsApp result in green bars on the left side with a weird 3d looking video

TikTok crashes everything I go to another app then back to TikTok

I could go on and on. Absolute disaster (at least for myself), I regret getting android 12.

*I cleared the cache partition as recomended when updating and other suggestions I found online. Absolutely nothing helps*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

Update is now available for me. Downloading now. May the odds be forever in my favour...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,037 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

I haven't had any issues since upgrading. I ran galaxy app booster after the update but not sure if it even does anything

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,810 ✭✭✭Mr Velo

How did you clear the cache partition? Options found online (pressing vol up and power and releasing) not working for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,068 ✭✭✭MarkY91

I found a YouTube video that says that the phone must be plugged into a computer before attempting the above.

Absolutely ridiculous that we must plug it into a computer before the volume up + power button will boot into the right menu but that's the only way on the S21 series.

Anyoen got issues with external links not opening when clicked on in Facebook/Instagram after updating to Android 12?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,020 ✭✭✭1123heavy

I need to buy a new phone, I have dropped the current one once too many times it seems, screen is flashing random lights, doubt it's worth fixing (A50). I'm not into the apple hype and would rather stay with Samsung. Would it be worth waiting for the S22 at this stage rather than buying the S21 to have it reduce in value in 2 months??

Just got the new update on my s21 ultra. I wasn't aware such a significant update was on the cards, but I'm not liking it at all so far. My biggest issue is the reduced size of all text and menus. Even on maximum zoom and large font, it's just so small.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,037 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

If it were me I'd wait until January at least if you can and get the S21 fairly cheap. From the leaks I've seen the S22 is not going to be much of an upgrade and they've even kept the same design

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

I think the s22 ultra looks like a note in all but name, while the s22 will indeed be more of a minor upgrade from s21.

When is the S22 due to be released?

Had a bit of a mishap with my S21 so will be in the market for a new phone soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,930 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Think my S21 Ultra is after getting some water damage inside the USB port

Connection keeps falling out of the phone and when it does stay in it only charges at 'normal charge' and not 'fast charge' or 'super fast charge'. The Moisture signal has come up a few times and i got it off by Switching off phone and connecting an old charger to it

Wireless charge still working but it can be a pain if your in a rush (that's were the super charge came in ideal)

Phone just under a year old and cost a bomb, what's the best course of action to take ?

Anyone else having trouble using contactless with their S21? It was working fine on Wednesday but went to pay for something yesterday and it's now saying my device doesn't meet security standards. Phone software up to date (last updated on 2nd and used contactless plenty since then), nothing else on phone has changed in terms of apps or anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

still working here, did u try to sideload something, or change os?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,067 ✭✭✭jones

Mine was the exact same on Wednesday morning tried everything couldn't get it to work. Then the December patch came out the next door and resolved it. Seems to be a Samsung problem but working again now

My S21 Ultra has been sent off to get repaired and more than likely getting a replacement USB port

Are there any cases out there that have port protectors/slots on them ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,821 ✭✭✭phill106

    I have this

very protective and good warranty on them. I have had them on my last 3 phones with no issue.
