Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm not that enamoured with the O2 in all honesty. But I don't think Valleymount GAA is close to an 'Ultimate' Sporting Venue. Scenic, sure.

Abstaining as I'm not pushed on what advances tbh

    Valleymount GAA
Mostly cause I dislike the look of the O2
Don't expect to win this one

    Valleymount.
Played there years ago and have also been a spectator at matches. If the games not up to much, just soak in the view

    another close one . .
But I'm disqualifiying The O2 arena because its multi purpose venue as opposed to a sporting venue .
sorry OMackeral to be pedantic but it wasn't really the home of the 2012 olympics- built s the millenium dome, hosted gymnastics and basketball and artistic something or other for the olympics when it was known as the North Greenwich arena . . .
so really its by default I'm voting for Valleymount .

Where else could a major sporting team be both the home, and away side?

    New York Jets/New York Giants

Will go for valleymount , not too pushed though

    O2 Arena London

Cause its a multi purpose venue with terrific viewpoints anywhere you sit. Also it's basically a little town inside the dome with loads of shops, restaurants and bars

I'll give you the Rome teams, the other Italians might not be so well known to non-footy fans.
Not big into NFL - did they always share the same ground?

Yep, before the Met Life stadium they shared the Meadowlands, which was right next to where the current stadium is. It should be pointed out that the Jets are in the AFC and the Giants in the NFC, so the opportunities for them playing each other are quite limited, but not impossible.

Have to stick with my nomination, Century Link Field for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,504 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

My heart says Seattle (not that I support them, but I do love the atmosphere they create there) but my head says Bird's Nest as it's so distinctive, and the Olympics is a much bigger deal worldwide than the American Football

    So yeah, Bird's Nest

Whats the story with it, one for baseball and other for Football ?

    Birds Nest.

very close though - the Seahawks have or had the record for the loudest crowd recorded I think.
But Birds nest dares to be different

Never realised the baseball stadium was right next to it. With a retractable roof too... pretty cool sports venue ;)

No, they're separate stadiums, the Seattle Mariners play at T-Mobile Park.

    Birds nest for its uniqueness

Both are fairly new so not much history Im guessing linked to them. Purely based on looks, I will vote for the nest.

    Going with the Piscine here.
Gave the Maracana my nod last time around, and it is legendary, but I've got to give the underdog a shout here or we'll end up with all ball sports in the semis.
Art Deco style trumps in this one though I reckon it's on a hiding to nothing here

    Piscine Georges Vallerey

Mostly for the humour value :D
But also, I don't think the modern Maracana is that great. I hate the round design, with the seats so far from the pitch

    Maracana

It's a tie but I can see there are two votes for Maracana with no reasons so on that basis...
