Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Krasnodar is cool but Augusta is just so beautiful when you can hear the breeze and the birds. Vote for Augusta

St. Andrews is more than enough golf courses in the next round :P
Augusta - more than enough football stadiums in the next round :p

No history attached to the stadium but I have to say this years Masters took away some of the magic of Augusta for me so it only squeezes past

    Augusta National Golf Club
My favourite golf course, i particularly like Amen corner

Augusta National Golf Club - Just a beautiful looking place and The Masters is always a great watch. There’s a reason it’s the only Major with a home.

    Krasnodar komrade
Looks like a massive version of those fairground cage rides that spins around faster and faster.
    Or a big salad spinner.
    Augusta is just too manicured

Never been but Centre Court looks class, would love to go

    Wembley's crap in every way

Wimbledon for me, if it was the old wembly might have been a tougher call.

Wimbledon. I never liked the rebuilt Wembley much

    Wimbledon
    Wembley is boring

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,249 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Hmmmm. I like Wembley better as a standalone venue but I think the history of Wimbledon shades it a bit.

Plus the work they have done on Centre Court in the last while has enhanced the experience.

    So Wimbledon

Wimbledon, for tennis and strawberries with cream

    Wimbledon.
Brings back memories as a kid when it was on, the road turned into centre court and everyone played tennis for two weeks. A sign that summer is here.
    New Wembley, nah..

Pissing against the wind here but will throw a vote in for Wembley because I haven’t been to Wimbledon.

I don't like tennis so Wimbledon doesn't do anything for me at all

Nor have I, but I've been to Wembley. That's why I voted for Wimbledon :D

The Norwegian one is pretty stunning but I prefer to vote for venues I've actually been to so vote goes to Aviva Stadium which also has a nice sea background in the photo.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,338 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

Henningsvær Stadium, the Aviva is let down by the dip at the Havelock Square end. It would look so much better if they had been able to build it the same height all around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,599 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Aviva, because I like the shape and how they worked it around the scale of surrounding houses (I realise that will be an argument against in some people's eyes!).

(Hate that it's called Aviva though )

Also because it's a very useful (and beautiful in the evening sunshine) landmark when we're out racing in Dublin Bay :D

    This ^

Henningsvær looks so unique. Aviva looks so generic.
Also, I've watched some really turgid crap at the Aviva :pac:
And the bars and bogs are terrible for a new stadium

Can we get a tie breaker?!

It would appear not. Sawduck's post came after the 20 minute timelimit unfortunately. Let's delve into the reasons.

OK, I can appreciate the personal experience touch. 1-0 Aviva

It's a fine reason, although it says more against Aviva than it does for Henninsvaer. I can still award a full point though. 1-1

This is a great multi-layered reason. 2-1 to Aviva.

Ha I can taste the disappointment dripping off this post. 2-2.

Ok so it's still a stalemate so I'm going to select which reason I find best and that's HeidiHeidi. (Justice for Sawduck)

    Aviva Stadium advances

Aviva Stadium. When i lived in Dublin, it was a 2 minute walk from my digs, and I was living there when they tore down Lansdowne road to make way for the new stadium. Was amazing seeing it going up, day by day. I love the area around it too, with the Dodder flowing by its side, Ringsend a short walk away, Sandymount the same.

The Azteca is an incredible stadium, but there's something I just love about the old school American baseball parks, so Wrigley Field for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,599 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Missed this the last time -

Wrigley Field, cos Blues Brothers. End of.

(I suspect I won't be winning any "most eloquent votes" plaudits for that one :D)

If it came to music as a tiebreaker The Aviva would have been screwed. Some very MOR acts there since the refurb. I think Michael Bublé was the first act and Phil Collins has been there too.

Ive seen ACDC and Billy Joel in the Aviva

Think Madonna, Lady gaga and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame played there too since the refurb
