Ah, have to go for Wimbledon here! Absolutely class venue, loved it the one time I was there.

Not a tennis fan, but Wimbledon is home of one of the 4 biggest tournaments in the sport, so it has to be there. The other is just a big field for horses to run around.

I'd imagine a night at Happy Valley would be great craic, but I can only imagine. Whereas I've been looking at Wimbledon for decades wantong to go there. I vote Wimbledon

Surrounded by the hong kong skyline looks impressive, but wimbeldon is just pure class. Should go a long way in this tournament.

    Voting wimbeldon

Depends on the draw I'd say - MCG nearly got knocked out by a field beside a beach :pac:

Happy Valley Racecourse, but that photo isn't great. It looks better here, with the contrast of the track with the high-rise buildings around it. (Sorry about the size!) :o

    Wimbledon is iconic.

    Happy Valley Racecourse

    Looks a bit futuristic

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,266 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Happy Valley is a fantastic place for a night's racing.

But it's up against a humdinger in Wimbledon. I've been to Happy Valley, but I'd love to go to Wimbledon, so it gets my vote.

Ah but that was a field beside a beach in Donegal, can forgive that :)

Happy Valley looks awesome to me personally but the fact of the matter is that Wimbledon advances

Tune in this evening for more Round 1 action. Some crackers in the draw, which was made today. I’ll give a bit of notice before we go live.

Hoping to go live before 7:30pm friends

    Agreed,

Estadio Municipal de Braga - the uniqueness wins out for me

Two great grounds, and a real shame one of them has to leave this early.

But I think I'll shade it for Boca.

I remember Bragas stadium from the Euros, quite unique, had thought of nominating it myself.

But I will vote for La Bombonera, steeped in history and pretty unique itself. Google it and you will see.

Shame one of these has to go out early but I’ve always wanted to see a Boca v River game so La Bombonera for me.

    Estadio Municipal de Braga

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,715 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

Estadio - idk it looks more smaller & intimate. LaBomb looks like an ikea stadium :pac:

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,340 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

La Bombonera, one of the most intimidating stadiums you'll find anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,556 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

La Bombonera advances. Did you know it translates as The Chocolate Box and is mental?

Can we dump both and bring back Braga? :D

    Wrigley Field

I like it, more than Turner's Cross anyways.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,340 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

1060 West Addison (that's Wrigley Field) for me. Blues Brothers fans will get the reference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,403 ✭✭✭✭Collie D

Voting Turners Cross solely because I’ve been in it and I tried watching a World Series game once and was simultaneously confused and bored.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,064 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

    Turners Cross

Saw Ireland play there in 2016, majestic atmosphere. Pity Cork City are in the first division with no more Waterford vs Cork derbies (well for this season anyway)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,445 ✭✭✭tc20

Not a fan of baseball, however in one of my favourite movies, The Blues Brothers, when Elwood is pulled over by the cops he gives 1060 West Addison as his address.
This is Wrigley Field and fot that reason alone gets my vote
Edit Zaph types quicker than me..

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,266 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Hmm. Wrigley Field is one of my nominations, but I've given out about all the American entries so far. Do I vote for it over a LoI ground?

Yes. The ivy wall, the manual scoreboard and the league table flags make Wrigley a rarity - genuinely proper American ground

Turners Cross - see you in the summer :D
