Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Páirc Uí Chaoimh - I really like it since it was reopened in 2017

Maracanã Stadium. It's crumbling pretty badly now I believe, but it still holds the record for the biggest ever attendance at a football match, just a handful under 200,000. The atmosphere must have been unreal.

Maracanã Stadium impressive and iconic stadium

The Maracana for all the history. Nothing unique about Parc Ui Caoimh that I can see, except its site in the capital

    Maracanã Stadium

For the history, the crazy old capacity, the fact my mate's a Brazilian Flamengo fan and will hurt me if he find I voted against it

Plus it will hold its own against any football stadium in future rounds, whereas Páirc Uí Chaoimh will get destroyed if it encounters Croker

Maracana is pretty iconic but I saw my first gig in Pairc Ui Chaoimh so that gets my vote.

    Especially when Brazil lost!

I'd say it was a death trap of a stadium at that time, but feck it - 200k is a serious crowd, even if it only holds half that now. Maracana for me

Yeah, I'd say being a Uruguayan in that crowd would make being an away fan in the home end at an Old Firm match feel like a picnic.

Has to be the San Siro, imagine being on the pitch looking up at that?

San Siro. Mainly because the Etihad is a soulless pit that struggles to sell out

    San Siro

Since '90, and Football Italia it's been right at the top of the list of stadia I want to visit. Now it's being demolished, I'm gutted. Such great architecture

I've been to the City of a Manchester stadium, it's as plastic and soulless as most of their fans

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Genesis Fancy Tenseness

It's in a state of great disrepair, and I almost got pick-pocketed outside it but it has to be the San Siro.

There's more atmosphere on the moon than there is at the Etihad.

San Siro by a country mile.
A cathedral of football, shared by two massive clubs, (I don't think this is replicated by two other famous teams but open to correction)
Happened to see Inter play there a while back, impressive and identifiable stadium.
City's ground, while I'm sure is very modern with all facilities, like City, is just built with oil money

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

San Siro up there with the best stadiums unlike the other nomination

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,684 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

San Siro because it does look cool. & the 'etihad' stadium...in Manchester. sounds ridiculous

Actually The Etihad was built by Manchester council to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and was offered to City afterwards, in the same way West Ham now play at the Olympic Stadium.

The Etihad is a lovely looking stadium imo, it's probably nicer than the San Siro tbh.

But there's no atmosphere there imo, don't they give away half their ticket allocation for some games?

Which is why Man Utd fans sing about City living in a council house.
