What a joke I heard it’s cause the 2kg limit on whey products mine was not near that like 1200grams

so what’s going on why can’t they tell us why customs are holding these items it makes no sense

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭mcriot29

Did you get any reason why it been in customs since then what weight was the stuff you had ordered

I reckon it might be incompetence on the side of customs, I'd no whey in my last order (start of August) and its still in customs. Got a refund no problem.

I get almost everything from hp nutrition. Fast shipping, never had any hassle with them. Competitive pricing, sometimes can be slightly more expensive than online stores outside of Ireland but they usually have good offers. Can take some time to go through everything and calculate out the best value but I'm happy with what I get. Good to support a local supplier too.

Ordered myself on Monday, shipping from Germany. Don't mind waiting an extra couple of days as long at arrives!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Macy0161

Ordered from MyProtein last Thursday afternoon, delivered this morning (from Germany). 3.5kg's in the order (a 2.5 and 1). Maybe a couple of days longer than pre-brexit, but not significantly so.

Just got an email with updated tracking saying my parcel is non eu and was presented to customs.

    WTF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,264 ✭✭✭✭jester77

What's myprotein like, seems popular here? Have been using Optimum Nutrition for years and have been happy enough with it in terms of taste, consistency and protein content. Looks like myprotein would cost €15 more than ON for same size 2.5kg tub, that's a fairly steep increase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,256 ✭✭✭Esse85

MP are cheaper when you use the discount codes. There are always offers on.

Loads of flavours to choose from, find some you like. Never had an issue with the products, I'm using them about 14 years.

Shipping issues are the only problems I've encountered and their CS team are poor.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Macy0161

I generally hold enough stock that I can wait to their (pretty regular) 45% off on myprotein. Plus, I've a couple of flavours I like at this stage. I rarely have shakes these days, but always felt (don't know whether it was real) that the myprotein mixed better than some of the others like Bulk Powders. Also, there's a few of the bars I like from myprotein, again hard to beat on price v taste anywhere else.

Is there still issues with Bulk or where are they shipping from now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭treenytru

Things seem to be improving re: my protein. Ordered 2.5kg brown rice protein & collagen capsules on Sept 19th...emailed on 21st to say order dispatched from Germany & would arrive between 21st -29th. Arrived at my home today the 28th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 373 ✭✭JimmyCorkhill

Has anyone ordered recently from Bulk? If so, any delays or items being turned back from customs?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 110 ✭✭Lemon3

Ordered from Bulk on 28/9 and tracking say my order is still in customs, Venlo, Netherlands. I think i'm done with MYP and Bulk after years of ordering from both, i think i will go back to HP Nutrition or other Irish based vendor. The price difference isn't huge when comparing similar products and next day delivery means less waiting in uncertainty.

I see discount supplements have 2.5kg on offer for €40 atm - not a bad price

    Free delivery over 50 euro

Just as an update, my Bulk order arrived today, it took two weeks exactly.

Same as above, irdered from Bulk on 28th, arrived today.

Interestingly the owners of MyProtein, Hut Group, have had a massive tank in share price yesterday. Wonder what caused that to happen or what impact it will have.

Agreed, I wouldn't be worried about them just yet.

Their customer service on the other hand... That could sink them at some stage.

I'm still waiting on part of an order from July! Customer support has been nothing short of atrocious.

It's all pre-canned rubbish and they seem to think I should just keep waiting! Terrible.

I would never trust any commercially made protein powders rather make my own at home. Cheap and 100% quality.

I hope you aren't using commercially made milk for that and milking your own cows instead.

I ordered some vitamins & a couple of other items from Bulk last Friday night at 10.30pm.

They arrived today from the Netherlands, so a week (including the weekend).

😃  I don't use any protein powders plenty food on a table. But if I would, I probably follow your advice and buy a cow first.

Did you ever try to place an order from MyProtein's .de domain?

I've got as far as the checkout page but the only countries in the drop down list to select for delivery are Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, and Switzerland. Which is strange seeing as Irish customers' orders are now shipped from Germany anyway.

I'm wondering if I cheekily select UK as an over-ride, and then just type Republic of Ireland in one of the manual fields, if it would still find its way to me.

This kind of posts make me smile. How desperate people to get junk powder... unbelievable : )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭evilhomer

After nearly three months missing, the order was returned to MyProtein. Some of the contents had been sent to me via Germany but a terrible experience all around dealing with them.

If everything works, they are great, if ANYTHING goes wrong, well you are on your own...

    Just my own experiences.

My Protein - ordered Oct 25th. Delivered October 29th via Germany. 2.5kg Protein.

    Bulk - ordered Oct 25th. Delivered 3rd November via Netherlands. 1kg Intra-Workout.

I get the lemon & lime flavour. I think it's lovely, to the point that I much prefer it to water during a workout. Handy way to get my BCAAs in also too, but I'd be lying if I said the taste wasn't the main reason. I love it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Saudades

Some posters in https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2054989471/supplements/p228 have advised that BCAA's are pretty useless, if already getting sufficient protein.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,377 ✭✭✭VonLuck

I've found the quality of protein has gone way down with MyProtein. Been ordering the same flavour for years and this last batch just tastes completely off. Now I'm stuck with 5kg of blandness!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,856 ✭✭✭Patsy167

What flavour? I have stuck with Chocolate smooth lately and no issues. I have heard mixed report on mixability of Salted caramel and vanilla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Macy0161

I go for vanilla and salted caramel from Myprotein, and haven't noticed any change to be honest, with the caveat is I don't mix them in shakes (porridge or yogurt). My vanilla stock may not be a new enough batch though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,377 ✭✭✭VonLuck

Salted caramel. Tastes pretty bland and slightly vanilla-ey. Maybe they mislabelled my batch?

I mix mine in shakes and that's where I really notice it. It's fine in porridge as I don't really notice much of a flavour after I've mixed in berries, nuts and other bits for my breakfast.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Macy0161

Same as with the porridge. And with the yogurt it's normally a fruit salad. I'd regularly add flavour drops to the porridge as well to be fair, but that isn't new (just habit when I only used vanilla and wanted to mix it up - butter biscuit for the win!)!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Saudades

I wonder if that's something to do with the product now being made in Poland or Germany, whereas before it was the UK. Ingredients appear the same on paper, but possibly different procedures for dairy products could be affecting the taste.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,576 ✭✭✭Macy0161

I just assumed it was a paper work thing that it was easier/ less paperwork to move more product in big batches to an EU distribution point to get around the 2kg limit, rather than move "manufacturing". But that's purely a guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,377 ✭✭✭VonLuck

Maybe I should drop a complaint. I had complained a few years ago about a damaged bag that I received and they sent me out a new one which was more than I expected given that it likely wasn't their fault. Although from reading some recent posts their customer service may have dipped recently!

Boots have Protein @ €15 per kg - seems decent value for a store - https://www.boots.ie/boots-whey-protein-chocolate-flavour-600g-10294740

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Saudades

If I ordered something from the MP UK website (over 2kg), would the order get sent or routed through EU first, or would it just get sent from the UK and likely blocked at customs? The product I want isn't available on the .ie site. I connected to MP chat but they didn't know and just advised to contact customs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,856 ✭✭✭Patsy167

I would guess it would be the latter - just get sent from the UK and likely blocked at customs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,256 ✭✭✭Esse85

And good deals on whey protein for Black Friday?

MP have 50% off advertised yet the impact whey still comes in at €17.50kg as they have hiked up the original price to €35kg

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,856 ✭✭✭Patsy167

Eddie Hall's code "BEAST" gives 57% off - every little helps!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 455 ✭✭TheSegal

Has anybody elses MP orders been delayed? Tracking info from FedEx shows it leaving the Netherlands but nothing showing up on the Fastway website at all despite delivery originally scheduled for Tuesday-Wednesday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭Saudades

It won't show up on Fastway's tracking page until they receive it themselves and scan it onto their own database.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,856 ✭✭✭Patsy167

MyProtein finally doing a proper sale this morning for Cyber Monday. 5kg whey + Free Protein Bar + Free delivery for €58. That's great value!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,856 ✭✭✭Patsy167

MyProtein shipping seems to have gone slow again. I've two seperate orders from late November that are only now showing as clearing through customs in the Netherlands.
