Ocean’s 11 OST submitted by Rikand

    Highpoints – The Plans, Boobytrappin

More funk to kick this one off. I do like how it basically tells the story of the movie through the soundtrack, makes it stand out in a good way. It does get very sameish mind, all the songs seem to blend into the other which will likely cost it a few points. One of the better entries mind.

I'll take that. Sorry EN and Aris, looks like you're on your own. :D

The Boat That Rocked OST submitted by Sawduck

Highpoints – Hang On Stupid, Jumpin Jack Flash

Another daycent album here with some rockin tunes. Pretty much like the boat in the movie then :P It’s not perfect either mind. Silence Is Golden is completely out of place in terms of the tone of the album, a very poor song to boot too. It rebounds from that back into the rock’n’roll type tracks though and overall it’s excellent.

The Hateful Eight OST submitted by RasTa

    maxresdefault.jpg

Very sinister overtures in the first few songs, haven’t seen the movie admittedly. I don’t mind the instrumentals but again they’re dragging like fook and not really going anywhere. Again I found this very time consuming which is never good when you’re trying to listen to music. Looking at my watch wondering when the next track was due to start. It’s grand. Better than The Fountain, probably worse than Dark Phoenix. That’s about it tbh.

Interesting, some more Tom Petty, I’m guessing the submitter is a fan :P Oh wait, just checked, a different entrant… EEEEnteresting. I enjoyed the last Petty album so high hopes for this one. Walls is a great kickstarter song. Nice and… anthemic.. is that a word? It is now. Yeah I’m enjoying this one the whole way through, Petty is a good artist and this is a great soundtrack.

The winner of the round - - with a total of 14 points...

    SHANEU

Commiserations to Irish Aris who gets a point for their entry, just one of those times when the music doesn't gel. Soz :/

    Sweet. I'll take 2nd.

Congrats Shane. Another great reveal Necro.

    Combined scores after 2 rounds:

Player Name Round 1 Round 2 Round 3 Total Score
    Trigger 11 6 17
    LeVar 6 13 19
    Irish Aris 4 1 5
    the purple tin 14 4 18
    Sawduck 9 12 21
    JP Liz V1 2 10 12
    Kolido 12 11 23
    ShaneU 6.5 14 20.5
    Electric Nitwit 3 5 8
    cee_jay 8 8 16
    RasTa 5 2 7
    mustang shelly 7 3 10
    Zaph 6.5 9 15.5
    Rikand 10 7 17

Kolido leads the way by two points going into the final round, but really it's anyone's game as 7.5 points seperate the top 9 players.

Which means it all comes down to the final round, the 2010 album entries... hoping to have that done for next Monday. Would go Friday but I have a Sheep reveal.... :D

ah, well, in hindsight it was quite a bit out there, but I wouldn't be able to submit it in any other Walrus.

Well played Shane, and thanks for another very enjoyable reveal Necro.

Nice I'll take 3rd, it's refreshing to see my name towards the top, I'm usually somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure what you'll think of my final album I went a bit mental with that one

If it's any consolidation, I still don't think you'll take the wooden spoon :D

I hope I'm wrong, I really hope Necro likes my third choice and submitted it in that spirit, but given all that's happened so far I have zero confidence now!

I'm a bit more confident about the third category, something that Necro would theoretically like. Otherwise, the title of one of the songs of that album could fit the case of the wooden spoon :D

Haven't listened to any of the entries yet for Round 3 but I'm an open book. I didn't see Steely Dan or Vampire Weekend topping the first category tbh before I started listening.

Saturday Night Fever OST submitted by ShaneU

This is what I wanted, THIS is what I’m talking about in terms of soundtracks. Iconic music from the movies. This starts off with an absolute banger in Stayin Alive and you just get all sorts of happy vibes from the music compared to the dark depressing albums I’ve already listened to. Great choice.

    Well Done ShaneU
