If your card system is generating so many complaints I think we can assume it's not peoples own fault.

There's so many limitations to these cards now, and such poor support from the company.

I'd prefer a store voucher then these hard to use very limited genetic cards. I must look into Perx.

Finally managed to use my online digital one 4all card. I couldn't set it up on my phone wallet so had to use it online. I had to use for something I didn't need, but I couldnt get most sites to accept it. I also left a good bit of money on the card. hard to get delivery on smaller items when buying online.

I have no experience of those cards, but just a general comment it is normal to see complaints more than reports of good customer experience. Like a lot of other things in the world, life is getting more complicated with these cards. Blame the "bad guys" who have turned what used to be simple transactions like opening a bank account, into a whole rigmarole these days. By their money laundering and other nefarious activities. This is just a small extract from a very very long EU Directive, under which everyone has to operate.

General purpose prepaid cards have legitimate uses and constitute an instrument contributing to social and financial inclusion. However, anonymous prepaid cards are easy to use in financing terrorist attacks and logistics. It is therefore essential to deny terrorists this means of financing their operations, by further reducing the limits and maximum amounts under which obliged entities are allowed not to apply certain customer due diligence measures provided for by Directive (EU) 2015/849. Therefore, while having due regard to consumers’ needs in using general purpose prepaid instruments and not preventing the use of such instruments for promoting social and financial inclusion, it is essential to lower the existing thresholds for general purpose anonymous prepaid cards and to identify the customer in the case of remote payment transactions where the transaction amount exceeds EUR 50.

Has anyone else had trouble activating their Chip & Pin card?

The website says to fill in the last 8 digits (the first 8 are pre-populated and can't be deleted to match the first 8 on my own card). This means the 16 digit code doesn't match my card.

When I press Enter with the first 8 digits I'm given followed by my own last 8, it says it's not a valid card number??

Oh definitely I would much prefer to know there was a problem, if I gave someone a gift card of any sort and it was zero, for some reason. I remember reading on a wedding forum about a couple who got one as a present for some furniture shop or something and there was nothing on it. Glad it's sorted.

    You're missing the point.

It's a convoluted system. There are multiple different types of cards different limitations and different authentication methods. Then you have poor response to support queries. While the information is on their website it's not very obvious the delimination between the different cards and specially the different limitations.

It just shouldn't be that difficult to use.

I'd argue they should have a user profile that allows you to match the technical and preference of the card user with the card type they should buy.

The cards arent updated in real time, it takes a day for them to be updated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭silver2020

Could she not have simply gone online and checked. It's very simple.

They don't make money from selling the cards, the money is made from charging retailers that accept it outrageous commissions of 10%+ That's why many retailers won't accept the cards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,122 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

With the lockdown they probably doing a massive amount of business. So the current issues probably won't affect then in the long run.

If you read the post, thats exactly what she did and thats how she found out there was zero balance on the card.

The balance didnt appear on it until her friend finally got through to someone about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,367 ✭✭✭JimmyVik

That card was bought on 1st December. It hardly takes them 3 weeks to update them after buying them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,077 ✭✭✭Shelflife

No it takes a day, thats why I said it takes a day for them to be updated.

As Tesco supermarkets accept the one4all vouchers, does anyone know if they will also accept the cards at their petrol and diesel outlets for fuel?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,175 ✭✭✭Citrus_8

As far as I know, Tesco fuel left Ireland last year or a year before. Certa, a part of DCC plc has bought these outlets and branded Certa. However, I couldn't find on the One4All website Certa so probably it can't be used in Certa for fuel.

If Circle K website is updated, you can see sites on map which accept gift cards. But I would ask in site or call to make sure.

Considering the miniscule margins on fuel I doubt one4all are accepted.

Apple green accept the me2you cards, but they are shareholders in it too

Aagh I'm totally confused after reading this thread. Have 500€ worth of online cards . From the thread, what I've gathered that's an option, is can buy online in boots ( upto max of 50). Can use the app in Tesco ( although seems to be hit and miss). I think can use the app in Penneys and woodies?

Any other large retailers where can enter card details to pay online?

How are onerall getting away with it? On the retailer section of the website,if filter' online' , it says Tesco accept online which isn't true. Could this be reported to consumer regulator?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,188 ✭✭✭kennethsmyth

Well then the cashier messed up, the 50€ is for online, in person bricks and mortar is 150€ limit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭silver2020

The €50 online limit is an EU regulation.

Absolutely nothing one4all can do about it.

If the cashier physically entered the card details, then the system sees that as a remote order / phone order and the €50 limit applies.

If they swiped the card, then the €150 limit applies.

If you registered your details and provided id, these limits can be lifted

Anyone else locked out of the app? I put in my correct details this morning and it wouldn’t open- tried the forgot password function but no code issued to my email to help me reset- bunch of amateurs -

in the end i installed the app and used that. It easy enough you just have to change your default payment method from g-pay to oneforall app and then remember to change back afterwards.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,367 ✭✭✭JimmyVik

I have 2 cards in the app now. 1st one i think worked once. The second card has been in the app since Christmas and when i move to that card i get the spinny symbol and it says "Loading cards, this may take a few moments" - since christmas.

I rang them last week and got 2 cards sent out, couldn't use them on the app, my friend tried to use one of hers earlier and no luck, they're a joke imo.

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked already. I received one of these chip and pin cards (One4all) last week as a belated Christmas gift. I went to activate it online and I got a notice to say it had been activated already in November.

The person who gave it to me is elderly so I don't want to badger them and I doubt they'll remember what they did with the pin at this stage.

If you make small purchases under €30 at a self service till in the likes of Tesco. Can I just tap and go as per a Visa Debit card? Or will I need the pin number.

    Thanks.

I used mine on Golden Discs Website. Handy for gifts or just treating your self. Might be useful for someone.

    Thanks for the reply Flinty997.

    Sorry, another (probably stupid) question.

When filling out the card details. What do you put in the name box?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,045 ✭✭✭silver2020

    Your name.

    Or any name.

Makes no difference as the systems know its a prepaid gift card (one4all all start with 4017) and the name field is not required to match anything

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 10,446 Mod ✭✭✭✭xzanti

    Thanks for that.

Tried a purchase (under €50) on Boots website. Won't work.

My head is pounding trying to use this thing. Absolute joke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,122 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

Was the same as using credit card. Mine was digital account, no physical card. Took me 8 months to get it accepted. Lots of problems setting it up.

Since then, we have a few more now received as gifts from work at Xmas. So have even more money to try and use. Might try the Google payment on the phone next time.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 10,446 Mod ✭✭✭✭xzanti

What was wrong with the old swipe and sign one4all cards? We got a few for people this year. No problem getting them. No problem spending them.

Seems people have been having issues with the chip and pin ones since last year and they're still rolling them out. Madness. I won't be inflicting them on anyone, that's for sure.

    Thanks again.

There's 3 types AFAIK the digital wallet and the chip and pin and the old cards. Due to legislation its claimed.

Anyone having issues using one4all digital card in-store Tesco recently? In the past I would set it as my default payment app on my phone and it would work when I tap, but not the past couple of weeks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 toledobastos

That explains a lot. I just received a One4All card from Virgin Media and we objectively hate each other.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭roashter

I have a one4all digitial gift card and had thought I could spend it like a normal visa card in my android wallet, but I tried in both centra and supervalue today, but it didnt work.

Is there only a limited number of stores that accept these cards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭mondeoman72

One4all cards are only accepted in certain retailers. They are not a general credit/debit card. The fees are supposed to be quite high so a lot of shops say no. See the one4all website for a list.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭JVince

12.3% of net sale is what they take.

10% of gross sale value, but unless you are selling zero vat rated goods, that 10% gross is 12.3% of the sale value excluding vat

Hence it is horrendously expensive for a small/ medium size retailer to accept these cards.
