This woman's story is harrowing - I just have to say though that not all the nuns were like this. I spent my first 6 weeks in a Mother and Baby home with my birthmother and she said that she was treated well by the nuns and they were good to her. Her mother had died of cancer and she was too afraid to tell her father and her siblings (all of which were younger than her). I know that the nuns will be slated this week, and in some cases that is warranted, but a lot of the bad treatment came from the top, not just from the nuns but in civil society too.

Yeah. Nuns were a product of their times then, but thankfully the French order nuns of my school took a much more liberal approach for their time, this is the very type of thing that was explored in religion class. I only later realised that other nuns were stuck in a time warp.

The ones I had experience with in secondary school were quite enlightened for the late 70s. We had contraception talks which would have been quite unusual.

After the street encounter with a devastated shut-down head-shop owner, I suspect he'd be quite leary of campaigning against brothels, lest something more damaging happens to him.

Was it a little like being in the military with rules and regulations?

Given the gangsterism rife in brothel ownership, it's a potato that Joe wouldn't pick up, I think.

I want to hear the story of the Limerick lady who married the jailbird.

It was announced in the promo so if you want to hear about it you'll have to google it. If it's in the promo, it's almost guaranteed not to be on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Flukey

With all these babies being sent to America, I wonder if the woman who married an American prisoner actually married one of them? :) One of the mothers is going to find her son and daughter-in-law in the one show. The big reveal for the end of the show.

Or properly schedule the calls. Have 4 ad breaks at 15 minute intervals, with each break an oppertunity to change topic.

They mentioned it on the promo which should have been your first clue that it might not be on the show.

    That would require:
    A) a producer who knows how to produce properly
    B) a presenter who knows how to present properly

I'm just thinking since Ireland has topped the Covid infection rate.

Remember when Varadkar said sometime in November that people should not travel home, eg from the UK, for Christmas as it was not essential travel.

Remember how Duffy was really p1ssed off about it and played the clip over and over and had a flurry of calls of people giving out that their son or daughter couldn't come home. Or that the 1500 travellers that came to Rathkeale to party over the Xmas shouldn't come back.

Now that the UK variant has taken hold in this island, I wonder would Joe be happy enough to stand over his initial criticism of what was said back then.

Or has the wind changed direction again for Joe (just blame the restaurants and pubs).

there was a traveller activist on KFM today complaining about the high COVID rates among travellers, due to structural systematic environmental racism

It’s literally got a dying readership.

Still be sorry to see it go though, even with his scary mug on the front.

I wonder will it age along with its readers, like in 2070 will it be running interviews with a geriatric Jedward or reminiscences about the Game Boy Color?

Documentary on now about the two non-lover men who got married for practical reasons; we're on the Lahvlahn. Actually a very poignant love story.

They filmed him passing away! Joe must have de clamps at full voltage!

I rang my eccentric 72 yr old uncle Christmas day to see how he was doing. He'd normally be at my brother's with my mother, his sister.
He spent the day transferring Joe Dolan and Big Tom CDs that he bought "off the Irelands Own" onto tape for the car.
