Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've often wondered if we'd been better off not getting independence.

Currently our neighbours to the east are in a state of shambles, but in the 50s-70s the church wouldn't have had the influence it had. The chairman of the board in James' Street Hospital would have been an appointee by the NHS, not a priest. Likewise for every school around the country, it wouldn't have been a priest running the show. Abortion would have been available in 1967 not in the early 21st century.

I think we can all agree it wasn't just the church, lots of people were complicit in these atrocities. Some simply by their inaction.

Didn't abortion and gay marriage only become legal in NI recently?

My mother always said up to her 80s, you never lose it, and her friend agreed, as they were both looking over at an attractive 20 year old lad.

Are we up to the 80's yet?

    So in summary.
She wasn't in a mother and baby home.
But she put her baby up for adoption, and he passed away.
She wasn't meant to go to funeral but she went anyway.

Wait it's now 2017 and she is at the burial?!?
This is so rambling and incoherent.

A half decent broadcaster would have made sure the ladies story was coherent but it is literally all over the shop

The story might actually be shorter if Joe stopped interrupting her.

    Joe's getting frustrated with her.

He's not the only one. However, he's the one facilitating her monologue.

Was listening yesterday and the missus stood up and went into another room where I found her watching Maura and Daithi ( rerun catch up) asking Terry Prone's advice on how to handle the Covid thing. I kid you not. Does she know someone in RTE. I went back to the radio and switched it off. It only struck me then how bad lifeline really is.

Prone is very well connected caller. Re. RTE, her now deceased husband, Tom Savage, was the Chair of the RTE Board.

During his time in the Chair, RTE were sued by Fr. Kevin Reynolds as he was defamed in a programme they made. Guess who Reynolds was represented by in the Media - the Communications Clinic, owned by......wait for it....Savage and Terry Prone. Savage the owner BELIEVE IT OR NOT did not know his wife and business partner were representing the priest. When before an Oireachtas Committee on the case Savage omitted several important facts about the case. Naturally  he survived calls for his resignation in true Irish style despite this gross conflict of interest.

I could tell you loads more about dis wunderful fantastic family, but google is your best friend here. Google

"The Communications Clinic Kate Fitzgerald" for a real insight into how Ireland really works.

I honestly think you are right at this stage.

She wasn't in a mother and baby home.
She gave her child up for adoption, he died at 10 weeks and she went to the funeral.

What is the point of this call?!?!

Remember the show Joe dedicated to telling us how great Ivor Callelly was, seemed to revolve on how Joe would see him cycling every day, so he couldn't have been all that bad?

    Or am I imagining things?

    We've had a few caller..........

We had the utterly abhorrent show where Joe gave Ivan Calorie's solicitor 45mins to tell us how great a guy Ivan was (despite the fact Ivan was IN PRISON AT THE TIME!), incl. how he was a very fit man and was helping de prisoners with their readin' and writin' and dat and shouldn't be in prison because he was a great lad altogether and Joe concurred.

Then we had a show recently enough (in the last year or so) where Ivan told us all about his horrific injuries and how he couldn't move or walk without any pain - only to be photographed doing situps (ON A CONCRETE WALL!!!) along de strand the following day by wan a de papers. In this puff piece Ivan also told us about his desire to return to politics etc. You'd have though he was seriously wronged and stitched up if you weren't familiar with the back story.

The fact he's a neighbour of Joe's and a ex-FF man (joe being a staunch FF-er, even supporting Bertie to this day!) is a coincidence of course........
