Disqualify them from receiving the follow up vaccine. That’ll teach ‘em.

Forgot ,Ireland doesn’t do consequences. All one has to do before carefully planning to do the wrong thing is prepare a wonderful, beautiful, wonderful apology. All forgotten before days end.

Yes it's the 16 follow ups that will put 8 people in need to the back of the q.

Sorry but Ireland has made me such a cynic.

I mean Leo never breached the official secrets act and then come on to straightfacedly ( is that even a word) complain about someone leaking a recent report, the contents of which one could largely have guessed anyway.

it's not like there was a hospital full of people who they could have given the vaccine to, or another nearby hospital/care home, rather than his own 2 young healthy children.

But he made a lovely apology , so lets all just move on

But, but he said in the wonderful apology that he made every effort to contact eligible persons before he got the family in. Maybe he didn’t know his phone battery was flat or something.

The master of the Coombe maternity hospital in Dublin has apologised after it emerged the hospital gave Covid-19 vaccines to 16 family members of staff.

I don't know what he's apologising for - none of it was wasted and if it so happened that two part-timers who were rellies got the jab, so what?
    Grow some balls, man.
Stop apologising to arseholes who carp on about needless twaddle.

    Que ?....?
They will need the follow up doses, thus knocking people further down the list I am guessing is point poster is making?
I still think better to use the spare vaccines on anyone rather than dumping them personally...but hey ho!

Yes they will be 8 places back from where they should have been so to speak. Similar when someone calls Liveline and the HSE can pull a 'spare' place out of their arsehole pocket for someone waiting years for treatment.

I don't disagree with what your saying but I would still prefer someone to get them rather than have them dumped.
    Another big detail.
So the controversy is over 16 spare out of this 120.
9 of which went to over 70s.
So the issue is really with what 7 vaccines?
Mountain out of a molehill imo.

It was expected that each vial of the vaccine would provide five doses however, throughout the day staff found it was possible to get six doses out of the majority of the vial and in some cases seven.

As a result of this, over 120 additional vaccines more than what had been anticipated were made available.

I think it was more outrage that it was some young family members got it, if they were all over 70 or all frontliners there wouldn't have been any reaction.

That's fair enough so the big issue is with 2 of them?
Who seemingly do work in the hospital at least on a part time basis...sooo

They filled 104 out of the 120 spares, then had a scramble to find people for the other 16 all with the clock ticking...I admit on the face of it, it doesn't look good, but imo they did the right thing

It's going on wholesale. Management first, whether they ever see a patient or not or their families. RTÉ would be at it if they could. It's the old me me me me me me. Human nature, if people can get away with it they will. To not offer the follow up vaccines would sadly be to have wasted the first and we do actually need as many to be vaccinated whether it has been done justly or not.

Ronan did say his English was atrocious, and French worse. Would Herr Duffy ever make such an admission?

It is outrageous that there haven't already been protocols in place for leftover vaccine, ie standby list of healthcare workers within catchment areas. Dublin 8 has a prominent elder care facility which should have been on the standby list with Coombe.

This really irks me. RTE never reported about the homes during the 1960s/70s/80s when they might have been able to make a difference. It would have taken brave journalists to do this. Now, when it's popular to bash the Church, they come along like the white knight.
