Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is what should be thought in history class. Forget about the "the brave heros of 16 and 21", they needed up handing the country over to those bastards.

A mixed race baby.... a doctor's baby possibly.

And then the ****ing nuns weren't too happy when the baby was born. "What is this." "What have we got here?".

Why? More than likely because the bitches would get less on the American black market for a mixed race baby than a white Irish baby.

Is that such shocking advice? (Not to mention she had been in a mother and baby home after leaving)
Society wouldn't exactly have been accepting of a woman who was in a mother and baby home no?
Or am I totally off the mark

It definitely wasn't acceptable in society to be pregnant out of wedlock. A friend of my mother, who worked in her office, disappeared for almost a year from work. Mum believed subsequently the poor woman must have been pregnant. Later she appeared terrified of men, so may have been raped.

    That is tremendously sad.
The Catholic church, the state and society as whole....plenty of blame to go around.

Is it just me or do callers become less and less credible the longer they talk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Kalimah

I thank God on a reasonably regular basis that my mother ( pregnant out of wedlock in 1962) eloped to England with my father, and subsequently got married before I was born. She knew what might have been ahead of her, though I think my grandfather wouldn't have let her go into any of those charnel houses.

The nuns were vicious, vindictive, malevolent frustrated oul b*****s for the most part in those days.

Yeah. Nuns were a product of their times then, but thankfully the French order nuns of my school took a much more liberal approach for their time, this is the very type of thing that was explored in religion class. I only later realised that other nuns were stuck in a time warp.

Maybe, but they are no in danger of falling to the presenter's level.
