People around here have given up on the whole idea of lockdown.

Gradually people are not bothered about it anymore.

This lockdown was never a proper lockdown anyway, compared to last March.

I don't understand how the numbers have dropped in the last few months.

Parts of France began a 4 week lockdown, let's be accurate

Some 21 million people in 16 areas of France...

You said France which implies the entire country which is factually incorrect. As I said accuracy or if you like honesty is important.

Don't think so, cuz one poster is saying everyone is around phoenix monument, not giving a shīt about anything. So nothing to complain about.

I was out for a couple of hours earlier in a different park. Lots of people out but mostly following the rules. Some not but that's always been the case since day one. As we left the park they had stopped People entering it. Nice day, parks are busy. Because people are broadly sticking to the rules. Otherwise they'd have gone somewhere else.

Sorry what relevance is that to what I've said?

Just about the same relevance as your problem with 5km limit.
About the same relevance as journal polls you believe in I guess..

What's odd is why they haven't dropped faster.

    Now we know why....

so it's of no relevance and just a flailing potshot about some other posters post in a bizarre response to me and some rambling about phoenix park when I live in the other side of the country. okay...

Posters using France's lockdown to defend ours. Ireland is in lockdown since December, the whole country. Parts of France are in lockdown since Friday.

    Hilarious stuff.

and what would the point of a curfew be here when there's nowhere to go or nothing to do

:D twist it whatever way you want, I have no problem with that. And of course we forget about your knowledge around polls on journal.

I don't think I can twist your point than you have yourself it's like reading a thomas pynchon book

Well technically Ireland is in lockdown. But according to people here we are not. Either way could get you called a liar.

Might allow the Gardai to lift the scrotes off the streets easier... probably about it.

Good job mate. You are repeatedly showing high enough level of ignorance for me to keep in discussion. But thanks for your response, highly appreciated. Have a nice Sunday evening.

Now we all know what a 'scrote' is...

BTW I'm not in favour of curfews.... pointless at the moment.

There is no real lockdown in Ireland.

Why are the numbers coming down despite this fact?

I assume the idea is to reduce people socialising and mixing with other bubbles.

The only alternative to lockdown seems to ignore Covid and continue as normal. If people believed that and didn't believe the authorities then protests would be bigger and not just the fringe, and people would just be ignoring the lockdown.

The numbers just don't reflect that. Most people are fed up but are still waiting for the vaccine to take effect. We've waited a year. Another month or two don't make much difference.

People believe the authorities that we don't have any alternative to lockdown at present, although we will soon. I don't think that means people are satisfied with how the government has handled the pandemic.

The fools, if they had just stayed in lockdown for the past 6 months then they wouldn't need to be going into one now.

Will they learn is the question though, they will probably ignore our example and come out of this lockdown within a few months, those crazy fools.

Maybe it's close enough to a real one to have an effect.

Has Ireland ever had a govt that everyone was satisfied with on any issue.

That said it will be interesting to see how it effects their ratings in future elections. Similarly how opposition vanishing acts effects them.

They've done this repeatedly picking anywhere that has just gone into a temporary lockdown to try to justify a never-ending national lockdown here :pac:

Are we saying we do or don't have a lockdown.

No matter how times you say that doesn't make it true. Polls show support for the measures, and in many cases stronger measures. The only country I know of that is "living with the virus" is Brazil, and that's not exactly going well.

As with all polls, it depends on what question is being asked. in what context and who is paying for them.

I think very few would accept stricter measures at the moment without any clear targets or milestones agreed.

The country is becoming increasingly stressed and angered by the patronising and opaque communications from NHPET and Mr. Martin.

Same reason they've come down in every place in the world that has not implemented lockdowns?

Put more explicitly: Viruses require hosts and there are a finite number of them in any given location.

Your are probably right. Personally I don't listen to them, never really have. I just look at the numbers now and then. Sometimes look up someone else's summary of any changes. Thats probably because I don't have live TV and almost never listen to the radio.

I realised a few years back some people I knew their excessive negativity was because they binge watched news and similar. Really effected their mental health.

    So lockdowns don't work?
