Now you’re comparing a flawed poll to the dangers of HIV etc lol. As i said before you are talking out your back end once again.

You never explained how the poll is flawed.

If you can point out some flaw with the collection of the data, or the methodology, fine, but to say it's flawed because you believe it to be, is not a serious argument.

It just more of the same self-confirmation bias.
Unlike you i don’t need a poll to tell me what i already know from actual experience. Seems like you need polls to tell you actually what’s going on outside your lockdown. Try again.

What if what you think you know is incorrect?

The poll you posted isn’t valid or it’s missing important data. It’s not tallying with what I’m experiencing with people out there.

Again, how is it not valid and what data is missing?
Stick with your polls and i’ll stick with real life experiences.

Well, that is one way to live your life. Make up your mind and never change it, even though the data and facts change.
    And I am arrogant? :D:D:D

Now this has no bearing on what i think or when restrictions should be eased. This is new people i meet everyday and it’s quite a fair few and they are in a good range in ages. Your claim of 59% that want restrictions eased only when we get to a low 20 cases a day doesn’t agree with what people are saying to me. Lots of people tell me a few hundred cases should see restrictions eased. I would say 10%, 59% my arse. They want these lockdowns ending soon.

How is what i’m thinking incorrect? Are you saying that all these people are lying to me?

It is not my claim, it is data that came out of a poll, a poll you have vigorously tried to discredit by merely sticking a wet finger in the air and coming up with made-up numbers to support your confirmation bias.

As a matter of interest, what work do you do where you meet these people?

I wasn’t trying to discredit anything. I was just pointing out the percentage figures of the poll you posted doesn’t coincide with my real life experience with peoples opinions out there. .

As for me making up numbers, seriously why would i bother. lol :pac:

yeah the narrative is changing as vaccine very slowly gets rolled out, pressure already put on by GAA figures to let kids back playing and that will ramp up big time in next month. anyone who thinks we will be at level 5 in mid april is crazy. there afraid of there lives of easter break after that they will get very hard to have level 5. tbh i think it will be very hard done to keep level 5 over easter but they need to. level 5 til may 1st will see cases at 100 or less a day i think. keep vaccines goin , hospitalisations should be down even if we get a case surge fro pubs opening.

I have serious doubts about that poll aswell, especially considering the source. It is at odds with anecdotal experience everywhere even my most extended circles.

I tried to put a similar poll here on boards but it was merged by the mods into the main covid thread and so lost in the fray.

Imo there's no way the government has wider public support to keep restrictions going for 2, 3 or 5 more years, which is what it will take.

Who will challenge it? - a big part of the population are just barely scraping by and worrying about putting food on the table and a roof over their head. Did read about people booking "dental appointments" in tenerife - they have wised up to that as well and closed that one off as well.

Ben Gilroy will probably have a go at it with some Freeman nonsense.

meanwhile in the UK and in Northern Ireland, 32 million will be vaccinated by April and self catering staycations, high street shops open, easing of restrictions on exercise, and families meeting up outdoors including grandparents is on the cards within weeks!!

Not much variance between young and old to the hotel quarantine question.
I think people are just not accepting the reality that there is a big majority out there for the lockdown to continue and that they are in a tiny minority. A few thanks from like-minded posters won't change that.

Has a poll been done on how many people would be ok with lockdown continuing after mass vaccination has been achieved? Because that's what's had people in uproar this week.

    Good morning. Beautiful weather outside.

Children should really be going to schools now, today.

Retail should re open today also.

Re open restaurants at middle of March.

Anyone who is awaiting vaccine can stay in a bit longer while people who are healthy and young should be out there living life.

Anyone who is covid concerned about new variants etc. can also stay in for as long as desired, well into 2022 if wanted. After all - holidays, socialising, concerts, fine dining is not for everyone.

Professor Luke O'Neill is currently on Newstalk -He has stated numerous times during the interview that the country will be awash with vaccines by May and just hold the line. He is saying we are at the end of this now.

Really struggling to see why the vaccine roll out is so slow though, tis isn't a big country with millions of people spread across it...

Is it availability? Or just a sluggish action plan??

Fear of Tony, seemingly we have the oxford supplies but we're not using them. Weren't the media giving out about him 2 weeks ago saying nobody in Government would stand up to him even though the HSE just wants to get it out there asap.

Prof Luke O'Neill states that the Johnson and Johnson vaccine will be approved within days. This will be a game changer. This is a one shot Vaccine and does not need special storage.
Again to reiterate the country will be awash with vaccines within two months.
Just hold the line, we are on the final hurdle.

Supply chain issues. You can only inject what you have. As soon as the HSE get it they are distributing 90% for roll out, retain about 10% as a buffer.

Volumes will increase drastically in the coming weeks due to increased production capacity by the manufacturing drug companies, they've also commissioned manufacturing capacity and facilities from other drug companies to produce the vaccines. One for all, all for one I suppose.

Recent government leaks of, 'a month of cases below 100 before restrictions are eased' and 'hospitality sector won't open for several months' are merely ploys to get maximum buy in and compliance on the home stretch. Will even work to turn the will i/won't i get vaccinated doubters into people who will more than likely get vaccinated.

Get Luke on NPHET and have him on the press conferences. I know he's not everyone's cup of tea but he'd add a much needed bit of positivity.

Even this Government can't be that stupid. They are losing buy-in by the day with the stretching out of restrictions.

Thats just ridiculous, not even this lame duck government would be that stupid. Stop talking rubbish.

"How do we get people to stick it out for just a few more months? I know, lets tell them the restrictions won't be ending for years and take away all their hope, that should do the trick!"

I just can't see the opening being as slow as its being rumoured to be. Once it comes to may and other countries are opening people will start to go mad here. The vulnerable will be vaccinated and the cases will be low.

As we are part of bigger system called European Union our all crucial decisions are taken in Brussels it is hard to understand how thousands of highly qualified and paid people there coun't have it sorted quicker?

Feels like the harsh winter weather ended yesterday, very mild today with loads out and about, great to see. Feels like the start of the end for these nonsense restrictions.

I think it’s an absolute farce that schools are still closed (midterm now I know), kids should be in school learning, socialising and exercising not stuck to a laptop alone in their bedrooms.

Enough damage has been done, get them back next Monday.

agree completely, this is over as soon as the weather improves. Easy to sit home in snow, wind and rain. There has been a huge shift in public mood in the last few days about the negative talk of long drawn out restrictions. People have had enough. Kids mental and physical health is just as important after a year of their lives on hold!

Question - why are we still allowing flights to land every day the way we are?

I cant think of any reason for it.

Because we don't want them falling out of the sky when they run out of fuel?

I have done the right thing through this whole thing. THe only person that has been in my house since lock downs started is my mother in law on CHristmas day.
She in 76 and was/is coocooning so we knew no risk.

Last saturday I heard laughing coming from the house behind mine.
I looked over and there was about 10 owlones in the kitchen across the way, drinking and having a rare oul time. Now these were all 60s plus, I know the woman that lives there, so must have been all of her mates.
Now one part of me is like for **** sake I am giving up my life to protect these old people and there they are having the craic. The other part is like its a few women having a few drinks. Its madness the way this virus is making us think.

I am tired of staying at home now. I am going to stop staying at home now. I am going to live my life and take my chances. I will stay away from older people and still wear a mask in shops etc but I am not doing this anymore. There is 1000 people a day getting this virus- How? Why should we stay at home and do the work for these *****?
    I am at breaking point.

All Over 70's to be vacinated by mid April.

The end is near for a lot of restrictions to be lifted. Probably be mid April.

Can't wait to fire up the barbeque with friends and hit the beer gardens.

Nice staycation somewhere now as well.

Another 7 weeks now can't ****ing wait.

I thought this was supposed to be Mid May. Have they revised it downwards?
