    Hi All,

I have an airtight folding attic stairs but there is no insulation in it, has anyone build an insulated door that fits on top of the stira? I have plenty of insulation left over from the floor that i was thinking of using for it.

I havent done it but you can build a box out of insulation panels and it it over the hatch, the stairs will fit inside it and you just move it/replace it when going up/down the ladder

There are a few items listed in the links, I seem to remember BandQ selling an "attic tent", a while back that fitted over a Stira.
I plan to do one in the summer when I tackle the attic, I'm not sure the best route to take though, maybe a light frame with Kingspan Insulation on it, and the seams tapped up

You wouldn't even need a frame, some 50mm kingspan and some tape should be fine, it just needs to be self supporting

Yep, kingspan is what I used... tape, sealant, few long screws for support, bit of foam on the bottom where it meets the frame, still not a perfect seal but the hatch frame may need a bit of a plane.

Weird pulling down the stairs and not feeling that blast of cold air.
