Slow progress. On the upside should get a couple of hours out of what's left of the main band here.

Proper snow and all stuck. But only a coating really (less than 2cm) here in Roscommon from it, so I wouldn't be getting to excited about snowmen in the East!

    Still at it, albeit lightly.

    finally snowing in Mullingar

Had some snow here earlier on this evening although I wouldn't fancy a snowball in the ear made from this stuff! Lovely to see it falling although like some other posters, I found the radar returns that I was looking at quite inaccurate. It was showing precipitation for my location near Castlebar for more than an hour before it actually began and the heaviest snow fell here when the radar was totally clear for this area. Had a mixture of some nice dry powdery snow initially, then some big dinner plate flakes followed by some good old sleety snizzle. Once it's white the kids don't care however!

Kilkenny has been a city since 1609 by the royal decree of King James I.

Under recent legislation by the department of the environment, Kilkenny City can continue to call itself Kilkenny City.

AccuWeather also says there's going to be a tornado in two minutes just outside your house.

    TLDR: Never, ever believe AccuWeather.
