Unreal snow in D5! Accumulating everywhere

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭John.Icy

Still very light here. Right on the edge.

Snowing at sea level but raining 8km land :D

Must need intensity. Doesn't even look like the precip has hit here yet so hopefully it changes over shortly.

Posts like this make me sad. Also in D5 and only seeing the odd bit of sleet falling :(

EDIT: And just as I post it gets slightly heavier. Not enough to be turning the paths white just yet

Proper snow here around 3cm so far

Been snowing heavily for the last half an hour a few km inland in Dublin 5. Getting quite a dumping. Seems to be quite localised given the reports not too far from here.

Bigger flakes now near Sawtry, getting a little more intensity. Still light.

Just wondering if that snow in Armagh and Down might move down thru the north east towards Cavan, Louth, Meath and eventually Dublin?

The precip is still only tickling the coast. The move inland is incredibly slow. Barely a few km in an hour on MetE radar.

Lotta snow potential for the coastal areas if temps remain on side. The rest of us have to sit tight!

Heavyish snow with proper fluffy flakes now in Bray. Bray Head disappearing from view. Still the edge of precipitation so as my young friend John.Icy says, if the temps remain onside this could go on for hours given the glacial rate of progression inland.

Light but continuous flakes in Dun Laoghaire (Deansgrange area so a couple of km from the coast)

Nothing much in the way of accumulation but the grass is turning white and the flakes are making my 4 year old happy at least!

Very light snowfall starting, Marino/Griffith Avenue.

Promised my 4 year old we’d wake up to enough snow to play in in Ballyfermot. What a thick I am, we got about 6 flakes altogether :(
