Decent accumulation in the North and in England. Up to 7 cm at Ballypatrick Forest, Co. Antrim (150 m amsl, near the coast).

There's still 2 cms on the deck here not far from Dublin Airport. 3 - 4 cm was max. Very localised impacts.

That chart seems wrong, Dublin had far more than that or does it take that reading from city centre? Defo 5-6cm

There is practically no snow in parts of dublin and then a good 5cm in parts of North dublin. It seems to be very localised there.

Looking at the angle of those showers approaching from the east (nothing spectacular atm) not sure i'm in with a shot. But nearer the coast could see a few flakes soon.

Same here, Dublin 8. Very disappointed.

North Dublin and Eastern coast Leinster seems to have been the sweet spot. Clondalkin here and nothing since a snow shower late last night. That's the luck of the draw.

    Clondalkin in Dublin

Yes you should be in the sweet spot once again, showers packing in from the Irish Sea similar direction as earlier

Looking at the sky here in Swords I'd say we've had our lot?

Looks very light but there are heavier pulses off shore now.

I'm sceptical for my area and i'm just up the road. Very local.

Hard to know. The wind has a northerly element and is not onshore enough for most except coastal fringes. That's why the big difference between the coast and just a few kms inland. Can't rule it out.

That chart seems wrong, Dublin had far more than that or does it take that reading from city centre? Defo 5-6cm

It's a manual observation from Dublin Airport. In the synop it's 43997, which means <0.5 cm, "Even layer of compact or wet snow covering ground completely".

Previous reports from this morning described it as "Compact or wet snow (with or without ice) covering at least one-half of the ground but ground not completely covered"

Here are the hourly reports from this morning.

1200 | <0.5 cm | Even layer of compact or wet snow covering ground completely
    1100 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    1000 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0900 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0800 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0700 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0600 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0500 | <0.5 cm | Compact or wet snow.....
    0400 | 1 cm | Even layer ...
    0300 | 1 cm | Even layer ...
    0200 | 2 cm | Even layer ...
    0200 | 2 cm | Even layer ...

nothing in my part of Dublin 5, maybe you're close to the coast?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭ninebeanrows

Between now and 5pm temperatures very marginal in coastal dublin could be rain or sleet showers.

road temperatures will always rise during these hours due to the insolation so expect a decent thaw on most roads, the grass that hasn't been tampered with by those pesky kids! should hold onto the snowcover

A severe frost setting in tonight after 6pm

Ah come on Slasher. You need to stop disputing the weather other people get. This morning was incredibly local. I got nearly nothing in my part of D9 while 200m down the road there was an inch. Your spot clearly did best along with the other coastal regions. There is 10+ pages on how localised this was in Dublin so I really don't get why you think it would be wrong because of the snowfall you got.

last nights snow almost fully melted here at Dunshaughlin. A much more rapid thaw compared to the dusting from 2 weeks ago. No snow here since last night.

Looks a better SW push on this next precip coming in off the sea.

Falling as decent snow in Howth once again so we are still on the right side of marginal.

EDIT: Looks like the heaviest stuff will once again slide down the wrong side of the M50 for myself. Still bright here but can see the dark clouds to my East.
