Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either "CRAZY", or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT.

Complains about partisan judges, while signalling to SCOTUS that they should rule for him.

    Usual authoritarian bullshit.

The phrase ‘I have ever appeared before’ when talking about judges would be a very telling phrase if any other politician used it.

Nah - He's going to hit him for the full ask from the AG - Which was $370M

Why would he reduce the fine? Trump offered nothing by way of excuse other than "everybody made money, what's your problem??"

The only question really outstanding is whether he will order the complete winding up of all operations and the seizing of assets to pay the fines.

Surely the Salom Witch Trials were the most unfair Witch Hunt in the country's history? Considering, you know how Witches don't actually exist?

All of it is just nonsense.

The reason why the Judge didn't allow him to "introduce all his evidence" or "allow him to speak" was that the case was already decided - He was found liable and the latest case was purely to determine how much he'd have to pay - The only relevant evidence was how much Carroll had been damaged and how much could he afford to give.

He can't blame the judge for having terrible lawyers in the 1st trial - Lawyers that forgot to ask for a Jury trial , Lawyers that refused to allow him to give a DNA sample (which he says exonerates him) , refused to allow him to testify (although they were 100% right there).

Shite lawyers aren't grounds for appeal.

If you put that question to Trump or some of his wingnut supporters, you may be surprised by the answer...

"Well I don't know about that" would be Trump's dog whistle.

Which the wingnuts would interpret as a sign as god fearing Christians they might get a chance to burn some witches they are suspicious of.

Everytime I think the GQP, Trump.and Meal Team 6 can't possibly get any stupider?

They go out and surprise me! Credit where it's due for that at least 😉

I mean deciding to frame one of the pop culture icons of the last decade as being part of a psyop by Biden and the Dems to steal the 2024 election🤨 Well that is some of the finest tinfoil I've seen in a while!

Swift has pushed voter registration to her fans and done so with massive effect. If she decides to go again with just the message to vote? Well, who are young voters going to plump for? It isn't Trump and Y'all Qaeda!

Further to just registering voters, she has a fairly well informed political opinion and her stance on women's rights and the politicians who've trod on them? Well again, that's going to be the GQP roasted!

What next for the rightwing conspiracy nuts? Beyonce is an adrenochrome harvesting reptilian who votes Dem? Although aren't her and Jay-Z in the Illuminati anyway 😉🤷‍♂️

Really puts the rape agenda of his in perspective though, like he can’t find a partner normally who would just humiliate him over a micropenis

Firstly I dunno if "Y'all Qaeda" is your own invention cos if so? Fúcking bravo.

Second, you only have to look at the Twitter controversy over the deepfake Taylor Swift porn to get a sense of Swift's impact and reach. This controversy was such that the White House felt the need to get involved, and it may yet be the seed that (finally) creates some robust legislation to protect against AI and deepfakes in general.

All because the target was Taylor Swift. I have no interest in the woman's politics, personality or personal life, but there's little doubting she's a gigantic cultural force over there; there has been enough worrying that liberals aren't gonna get out and vote in 2024. If Trump / MAGA's stupid enough to pick a fight with her again, then we needn't worry about the usually vote-shy youth turning out.

I'd love to take credit for it, alas it isn't mine but a description I saw of MTG, Boebert and co that has just stuck in my head.

You're 100% right on her reach and impact IMO and the weekend was a great example.

I wouldn't really be a fan of her music but the way she's winding up the MAGA loons, without really doing or saying anything out of the ordinary, is just *chefs kiss*.

He's already given up on the middle ground, independent voters... doubling down on his base, try to sweep up a few more new 'edgelord' voters who think the cool thing is to hate on someone like Taylor Swift, and will spout the usual guff you might expect online.

I saw someone yesterday going about how "of course Taylor was pitchside for the conference final, Kelce is in line for a $70k bonus after the Chiefs win. She wouldn't let that go unspent"

I mean thinking that a literal billionaire flew in to the game to snatch her BF's bonus cheque? Utterly deluding thinking amongst that particular pond.

The Justin Mohn video is horrible and his ranting monologue is pathetic

That said, if anyone wishes to discuss it I think a new thread would be best, leave it out of this one please unless it is DIRECTLY relevant (right now it does not appear to be)

Fúcking hell: look ultimately it's an isolated incident and we can't know what pre-existing mental health issues this guy was suffering from ('cos I'd take a wild stab that he had), yet you gotta also put it aside to note that this is the kind of rhetoric and emotional headspace MAGA ultimately promotes. It's an antagonistic, paranoid, confrontational and fundamentally angry moment - and this is where it all leads when it sticks in the mind of the already vulernable.

Cognizant of the Mod Note above , Mental Health issues are clearly central to that incident , but equally - Where are the "Liberal" people doing this?

The Angry, violent rhetoric of MAGA and increasingly the rest of the GOP speaks directly to troubled people and they do nothing to moderate their tone and inflammatory rants.

It's an angry, bitter ideology , dangerously presented and promoted and can only lead to (more) bad things happening.

If Swift wins a few more Grammys on Sunday, that will definitely prove their theory.

You have to love how anything that happens that don't like or good things that happen to people they don't like (or who don't like them) are all massive conspiracies.

It's not because they are utter arseholes - oh no!! , it's because it's a big conspiracy to keep the "ordinary decent American" down.

If it wasn't Swift, it'd be someone else. See similar outrage over Greenday a few weeks back & I'm sure there's a laundry list of artists getting into spats with the American right-wing; christ let's take a moment to remember the Dixie Chicks having the gall to criticise Bush II / Iraq II - the right responding with almost pavlovian inevitability. It probably helps if it's a lippy woman; nothing the american right hate more than a woman with notions.

As I see it, the problem will always remain that by its own nature, art/entertainment leans liberal & left wing. It's almost impossible to create anything that talks of or details the human condition - even as a frivolous chirpy pop song - without having self-awareness to interrogate the world within. Conservatism by its own nature says "everything's OK the way it is, don't change things [or roll things back please, change is scary]". There's an emotional and intellectual curiosity that drives art that is antithetical to how MAGA et al thinks. Even at the level of Taylor Swift. Obviously IMO etc.

My theory is its their own internal reaction and rationalisation of their failure to fulfil the "American Dream".

They've been duped by rhetoric along the lines of: "The Land of Opportunities/the Greatest Country on Earth is the place where anyone can become a gazillionaire if you just work hard enough. It doesn't matter if you're starting with nothing, the sky's the limit if you have a dream and initiative. It's perfectly normal to work three jobs and have student debt hanging over you for your entire life. These are the sacrifices you make when you bet on being a success. And you'll be a success 'cos Capitalism kicks ass! You don't need social security or state supports; that's for Commies and losers. You will be a winner if you want it and work hard enough!"

Believing in that places the responsibility on the individual and blames them if they fail while ignoring the fact that not everyone starts off equal and not everyone will get the same opportunities as imperfect as that may be. A shining example is Trump himself; he simply wouldn't have reached the level he has if he had started off with nothing

Rather than admitting to themselves that they've fallen for the lie and their own country doesn't care about them and (worse) that they didn't want it enough or work hard enough, they turn on people who have been successful and need to explain it away instead of acknowledging the broken system and its inherent bias and actually trying to fix the system.

Without the start, Trump would be very akin to Danny De Vito's Mr. Wormwood, the used car salesman in Matilda.

It's the angle used by all dangerous populist movements.

They target those that society has left behind , consciously or otherwise and they tell them that it's "them" that did it , it's "them" that are the source of all their problems.

Having bought that story back in 2015/2016 from Trump (when it was sort of believable before it became clear how awful he is) it's very very hard for them to admit that massive mistake.

They also still really believe that the Democrats aren't there for them, so given they have no 3rd option they are further incentivized to stick with the sunk cost of supporting Trump.
