Dems won't look to block Trump, why bother?

He was soundly beaten by Biden, and has cost his own party the Senate majority.

He would be easy to beat, American don't take kindly to losers.

It would be so easy for the Dems to turn the HC tables on him. He thinks he is owed it, got nothing done, plenty of cover ups etc.

The Impeachment went about as well as they could have hoped. There was never any real chance of the GOP voting to convict, so able to put out such dating evidence, and there is more like the phone calls etc that will be dragged up as nauseum if he tried to run.

Running in 2024 means getting on the campaign trail in a short 18 months. I expect he'll be filling out stadiums by then.

Two elections, two electoral defeats. So simply coming out with the greatest hits tour, while earning him money, won't win it.

Covid should be dealt with, economy will be on the up.

So he needs something and his 2020 performance would suggest he was a one trick pony. His perfect foil was HC, he no longer has that.

Bear in mind also, Trump was claiming that "sleepy Joe" was too old to be president. In 2024, he'll be 78 - the same age Biden is now.

Not exactly a meltdown from anyone here. It was pretty much accepted that there would be no conviction. Although nobody expected McConnell to say that he views Trump as guilty and to favour a criminal conviction. That is both a terrible reflection of the GOP and is pretty awful for Trump.
