whats the craic with the treaty?

One condition of the rerun of the Treaty (because we voted the wrong way) was they we could have this corporate tax rate.

I remember those days, when there was a lot of anti EU sentiment. Now - through decades of pro EU propaganda - we are all pro EU.

Well, they promised we could have our corporate tax rate in exchange for changing our minds on Lisbon. Our overlords aren't very trustworthy.

things change, we all desperately need this money now, including ourselves, we re running out of space to tax citizens more

So we risk losing business's and future investment in our country so other country's will like us more. Will you stop. We need every advantage we can get.

the rising tensions arent worth the risk, it may start causing serious issues on a global level, many economies are gonna be in serious trouble post covid, god knows what ll happen, a slight increase may calm this tension, its really not that much, by the looks of it, many countries will be moving to 20%+ soon, 15 is still very competitive, but we should radically change the way we accept this new income

Propping up the economy during a Pandemic ain't gonna pay for itself.

    Neither does equity.

Redistribute the tax take to give to people who havent worked a day in their life.

Well proven that the government don't waste tax payers money? I have a truck load of evidence to the contrary.

    Exhibit 1: the HSE

One of the most successful projects in US history was the New Deal... The lack of such projects has pretty much decimated their infrastructure.

I can imagine what people would be saying if Trump had a dog that went around biting people.

They'd be saying things like "Dog mimics its owner!", "There's no bad dogs, only bad owners", "Trump probably abused the dog as a puppy!"

Its blatanly obvious that most of the MSM and certain posters on here are completely disingenuous.
Everything Trump does is spun in a negative manner, whilst everything Biden does is spun in a positive manner.
Its futile trying to reason with these people.

this is it, very over reaching , taxing money made outside the jurastiction .

This has always been the case for the US , it's not a new thing at all.

Every single US Citizen or person tax resident in the US has to pay taxes on ANY income regardless of where that income occurs.

This isn't something that Biden invented.

The change here is that the tax will be due regardless of whether they "repatriate" the profits.

interesting statement, from a possible trump fan!

So will they reduce income tax at the same time? Or is it just about increasing business tax (and therefore reducing our purchasing power) while maintaining the same level of personal taxation?

the infrastructure building element was good, especially the highways, the creation of the welfare state was an abomination.

well aside from the wealth tax act just being a cheap jibe at JD rockerfeller to drain a mans pockets .

The creation of the welfare state in the US at that time has had intergenerational effects creating ghetto's , welfare dependence and combined with pro union acts hurt American business and productivity.

The new deal could have been an uplift for everyone but instead it was a cheap shot at rebooting the American economy by taking a swipe at business owners and relieving them of capital.

You're a tad obsessed with looking down at poor people. Meanwhile iirc you approve of wealthy people engaging in tax avoidance and evasion...

Yeah let's go back to the good old days of American robber barons paying little or no tax, lockouts, even worse ghettos, no worker's rights and all that good stuff. Libertarianism gone mad. Though I consider that politic a madness, or at least a sociopathy masquerading as a politic, which if implemented would inexorably lead to a bully boy fascism run by the rich. And America is bad enough on this score as it is.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

you seem to be well deluded there, its clearly obvious, and globally to, introducing welfare systems, have in fact been been massively successful, including for businesses
