    Hi RS
Could you recommend a sound bar for use in a home Gym we are lucky enough to have. Ideally to be attached to base of 40" TV that is on an extendable wall mount : it keeps the floor clear.

    1) needs to be easy to use: auto on, auto off if possible.  Family friendly as everyone uses it
    2) Must have Bluetooth for lads streaming music
    3) TV is 40" aging Philips (probably bought when you had the shop in Dame street Dublin!) so fed from fire stick & plug in HDMI stick PC . So signal to soundbar may be a old fashioned audio headphone out, thus soundbar would require analog  in
    4) Budget: nothing set, but not aiming to duplicate home cinema either. Open to ex demo if available.

    Trust this makes sense :-)

    Hi Fortplus.

    Thanks for the post.

The main issue will be getting one with Analogue in's as most have now done away with these and operate via optical or HDMI ARC.

There is the Polk Signa S2 priced at 249 Euro. It comes with a wireless subwoofer but you can just not use this if you do not want to.
It has a 3.5mm jack input.

The Denon DHTS416 priced at 319 Euro also has a 3.5mm jack input but again comes with a wireless subwoofer.

Let me know if something like the above might catch your eye.

Thanks for that. The Denon looks the way to go. I need to double check, but I think the TV probably does have optical out. I will check later. If it has, would the Denon still be the choice or other , better options

    Hey Fortyplus.

The Denon is a great soundbar and would be a great product to purchase :)

If you had an optical you can still go for the Denon.
You could also go down in price to the Sony X8500 at 279 Euro but do lose the subwoofer.
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-204048-sony-htx8500-soundbar.aspx

With Optical pretty much all soundbars have this connection so you could take your pick from our website depending on what you want to spend.

OK, I think I am good to go with the Denon. I had a look at the TV. The one in place has HDMI port 1 labelled ARC, which I believe is Audio Return, so hopefully that would work? Are all ARC HDMI ports created the same?
Last resort I have a second similar retired Phillips, marginally newer with an optical out, but that would require a bit of swapping around

    Hi Fortyplus.

If you TV has HDMI ARC then you are in business.

All ARC HDMI are the same apart from the current ranges of TV (Last few years) which now use eARC.

If you place your order via the website let me know and I can keep my eye on it for you.
