Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

We have a newborn in the family and wondering if we could claim 20% tax back on medical expenses such as private prescription, etc.?

If yes, could any parent upload receipts using the revenue online account?

    Thanks

Yes, you can get 20% tax relief on most medical expenses for all your family.

In fact, you can pay other people's medical expenses, and get tax relief.

Submit the claim in your annual tax return.

    Does this include prescriptions also?

Surely everybody knows by now that medical expenses get tax relief?

    GP fees
    Hosp fees
    Prescribed medicines
    Non-routine dental fees

You can pay you mother's costs and get tax relief.

You can pay your neighbour's costs and get tax relief.

You can pay anybody's medical costs and get tax relief.

Even if it’s not on prescription but recommended by medical person if you get a letter you can claim.
Public health nurse recommended a thickener for my daughters bottle to help keep it down. They were €9 a box 15 years ago & when she was on bottles only it was almost 2 boxes per week.
You had to submit receipts manually at the time & I put letter from her with it.
