    Is Tuanzebe dodgy?

Didn't he have a mare against Istanbul.

    Resting him for Arsenal.
    That's the right call surely?

Ah ya probably but I just want to see him play, especially with Telles. I would have thought Rashford might have been minded with Martial on the left.

    (It was only a sigh)

    Meh.
I take your point. But he has underwhelmed very much imo. I expected more in the games he's played.
Technically he's fine, but he's struggling with the pace of games and a lack of time on the ball. Sheffield are not great obviously but they won't want for effort, they will close down and chase.

I don't think Ole trusts him yet to be honest.

But if he plays tonight and makes a good contribution I'll be as pleased as anyone else.

It's hard to do anything but underwhelm when you get 15 mins here and there. He's also often played on line ups with loads of changes and not too often with the main starters.

Tuanzebe starting. What's the thinking of that I wonder? Any issues in defence and we're back to looking at the one constant in there but unless McGoldrick decides to have one of those once a season games, should be few issues.

No, he's one of our best prospects.

The way they list out the starting 11 is so annoying!

Pogba-Martial as a CB partnership is risky.

Didn't he have a great game against PSG.

In case any of you haven't seen it, Squires cartoon this week is brilliant:

    https://www.theguardian.com/football/ng-interactive/2021/jan/26/david-squires-on-chelsea-sacking-frank-lampard

Thought Bruno would start on the bench myself but the guy is raring to go and says he doesn't need a rest :) so let's hope we can afford to take him and another one or two off early enough, still wouldn't want him doing the 90 if we can avoid it

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

I don't disagree with the side Ole has picked but I'd have liked to see VDB start, possibly instead of Pogba.

Rest Pogba for the Arsenal game and give VDB a start against a poorer side to try and flourish.

I think moving him in and out of the team allows for inconsistency and we don't see the best of him.

Anyway, here's hoping for 3 points. Nothing less to be expected. Hopefully a few goals. Jagielka has a mistake in him.

He's made of glass but seriously like another poster mentioned earlier I don't think we can get excited about him until he plays 10 good games in a row. He is so injury prone he's unreliable. I wonder what his longest run of games was for us.

  • Martial needs to produce tonight. Don't let the rest of the squad down
Let's get at them early and bang in goals
    Hon Man Utd

This is close to what I'd like to see Ole play in the Europa. Replace DDG with Henderson, AWB with Williams, VDB and one of McFred for Bruno and Pogba. and Dan James for Rashford, leave Martial have Europa and Cavani the league.

Agreed. Would’ve liked to see him come in for Pogba in a game like this (on the left centre where he played at Ajax).

Close, yet needs five more changes..?

The sight of Martial doing a half sprint, slow down and then sprint at a ball he could have pressured really sets himself up for one of his stellar games

Well its probably one of Ole's most shuffled lineups and has more non starters than his best 11 where he starts the same players so often.

But I get your point, should have said as close as Ole has gotten recently.

Watford on 9th Jan! That'll be fairly close to the EL team hopefully.

    close by rashford. nice play

    on replay, should have scored

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,386 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

Whatever about everything else, Martial is way too similar to Rashford in terms of the positions he wants to take up. Tripping over each other at times.

Pogba so strong on the ball

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,159 ✭✭✭El Gato De Negocios

Far too pedestrian thus far, 38 year old Phil Jags playing but we aren't targeting him.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 542 ✭✭✭Bill Ponderosa

Maguire let his man go again there, lucky. Decent save from DDG

Worst performance we've produced in ages.

The way this is going the score will still be 1-0 at the end.

    Dreadful stuff.

    Glazers Out!

Super corner into the box but de gea needs to be stronger

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 650 ✭✭✭Annabella1

    Where was VAR
De Gea was rugby tackled !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,104 ✭✭✭FourFourRED

    he was pushed!

Haha, even if this was a foul, he was never going to be anywhere near the ball anyway. It just isn’t part of his game unfortunately!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,386 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

That's not getting better for DeGea with every replay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,773 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

My wife just said Dr Geas playing well lately..

Poor all around, and not to be picking on him as this goal wasn't his fault, but Maguire is once caught behind again and fouling a player who is zero threat from the set piece all because of their terrible use of a zonal system

Whomever is coaching these would want to be getting some help

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,054 ✭✭✭wanderer100

De Gea needs to get a fist on the ball if he’s going to come off his line, not strong enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,349 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

sharp completely falls/pushes in the small of DDG's back pushing him off balance

He’s not likely to change now after 10 years of this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,947 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

De Gea was pushed in the back, should have been a free kick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,349 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

having said that, defense from set pieces has been terrible for a while now.
