Hi, i just wanted to ask would anyone know what could be wrong with an oil burner that wont turn on?
its as if there is no power to it at all.
the first problem we noticed before it shut off was that it wouldnt turn off.
i had to turn it off at the fusebox, otherwise the orange light wouldnt turn off regardless of whether it was on Constant, Timed of Off.
then we got the tank filled and 2 days later the heating wouldnt come on.
ive tried resetting it and it just doesnt respond.
If i call the council will they fix this?
we have only been living here for just less than a year and im not sure if there was a service done before we moved in.
    Any advice would be appreciated

    Regards Dan

    Get it serviced.

    Could be numerous things wrong.

You most likely ran it empty?
Dirt in filter, the photocell or jet nozel.

    Was the right fuel bought?

What type of set up as in thermostat on wall or just a switch for on/off.

Could well be air locked too.

You may well need to bleed it.

we only put 300L in it 2 days before it stopped working, so i dont think its empty.

we bought the home heating oil that we have bought previously and it worked fine

we dont have a thermostat as far as im aware its just a timer on the wall with a switch for Constant On, Off and Timed On.

i have tried resetting it and it doesnt respond at all usually when i have to bleed it, it at least tries to start up first and fails.
however atm the reset button does nothing at all.

Is there a small black nipple cap on the boiler, it should screw off and there will be a button behind it. Try passing it while on

YES! that brought it back on Thank you soo much!!

thank god for that with this cold weather that has just made my week!

im going to sort out getting this boiler serviced because before we moved in here, this house was empty for a few years and i have no idea when it might have last beens serviced.

also may i ask what did the button do?
just so i can explain what i did to get it back on

    Reset basically.

It's not good to keep pressing the red button so that's a safety over ride

Great you don't have to do without as the weather isn't great but seems to have warned up a bit compared to last few days.
