Does anyone know where you would go to get into podcasts? Not only listening to them but what if you wanted to make your own podcast? Im clueless but interested all the same, thanks...

That looks interesting thanks, but how do you go about recording the podcast? Are the podcast platforms a bit like social media platforms where you get followers etc?

mod: moved this into it's own thread instead of an old Newstalk one!

To record a podcast you'll need a microphone and a laptop/pc (something capable of capturing the audio and doing a bit of editing). Starting off most people get a USB mic (eg Blue Yeti snowball, Tonor TC20). You'll get better sound out of an XLR mic but you'd also need a mixer to power it.

I'd say they're more like your own website that you have to drive audiences to yourself. Podcast republic, Spotify etc are just podcast aggregators. Unless you're relatively big they're not pushing you at all.
To get a podcast published you'll need webspace (to host the audio files) and an RSS feed. Some websites have this integrated for a fee but if u get anyway popular it'll become expensive quickly.

A decent microphone is a good starting point . You can then use something like Audacity software to record and edit. Then you need to find a podcast hosting provider, google is your friend.
