Sheep dog.

My friend helps me gather sheep and get them into a trailer etc. However if I had a sheep dog could it do the same job. Can a sheep dog herd sheep onto a trailer ? As friend isn’t always available. Can a sheep dog replace the help ?

Yes. A good dog is worth its weight in gold. It will do far more work than yourself and friend put together.

If your going buy a properly trained dog, you will be looking at 2k plus.

No there's a surprising number of Irish dogs in English auctions.

Last week's sale in skipton had about half on the island with a lot south of the border.

Try and set up your farm to aid with gathering, my current dog is 11 and us missing a back leg and I have no issues as I have tried to make things easy
