Plant new hedge beside existing one

Looking for recommendations for a hedge which I could plant an existing hedge. The existing is is really just ivy held up by mostly dead hawthorn and bramble. Prefer to leave it there and remove when new hedge has grown as it is acting as a privacy screen at present.

Nice idea but the ivy will soon grow up inside your new hedge so I'd want to clear it before planting.
