Recommend a laptop ASAP??!

Current Lenovo laptop is banjaxed, would like to get new laptop ASAP.
Requirements:
15.6" screen
Decent processor and storage
Good for Zoom calls
Usual work use and general browsing use
Budget is about €500 but could stretch a bit more if needed.

I don't know a whole pile about laptops so once it's a decent spec and will last a while, I'm happy. Ideally, pick it up this weekend, click and collect. Or get it delivered in the next week....... Recommendations greatly appreciated ðŸ‘

OK, is that a complex job to upgrade the ram?
Also that one I posted is Ryzen 3,is that still decent?

ram clicks in - simple

screwdriver to take case off. no other tool needed.

for the ryzen 3 yes

simple job.

Great, thanks. Is there much of a difference in a Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5?

the 4500u is more powerful but the 3250u will easily run all common uses

Will that speed it up a bit? A mate has a Ryzen 3 and said its a bit slow, though he has it a while now...

more ram - means it runs more smoothly if you're require the ram at the time

Glasso, quickly question - would I be adding that 4gb of ram onto the 8gb that it already has? I'm new to all this....

I actually got this the other week and am very happy with it. My daughter is using it for her school work. The only thing it comes with windows 10 S which I upgraded to windows 10 home edition as I needed to load Zoom and school software onto. This is easy to do and free.

Thanks glasso I will get that RAM you linked to and upgrade it to 8Gb in total.

Think amazon pay it. I put in my basket and went through to check out, think it was £503 in total delivered. So very little tax/customs really. (Still, haven't bought laptop yet......)

I wonder would customs intercept it and charge you for the pleasure.
Like they do with items from china or the usa, except this would be easily tagged as a high value item.

Don't think so as amazon will have charged tax/duty. Not 100% sure on that though so maybe wait until someone more knowledgeable than me replies!

no because Amazon are completely Brexit compliant

before Brexit they were already paying VAT to Ireland on purchases from here

Ah well, I'll keep looking around so.

was last Sept I think the last time it was going for that £499 price

(from Amazon price history)

that 3500u model may not come back as it's a cpu that has been replaced by an updated model (4500u)
