Not sure what is funnier your man's reaction to a fairly obvious 'backfire' cartoon or the other guy looking for Mary Lou to do something about it. People are abusive across the spectrum of social media.

Not sure it's that funny that members of the Dáil Press Gallery are asking the leader of a political party to make a statement on the abuse they are receiving online from supporters and members of that political party.

Would seem quite the opposite of funny actually.

I think it was more a response to the general pile ons that happen if you publish anything mildly critical of SF.

You probably knew that but still managed to deflect to covid, homelessness and journalism in general. Not bad comrade. Next time throw in #leotheleak for the full house

Did you ever wonder what the parents are doing when you see that staged picture of a kid eating a mwal on the street?

Of course not. It's the governments fault.

    Cradle to the grave.

Well show us how you are making a proven connection to SF in the tweets you posted. Because I am not seeing it. The graphic designer who posted the meme doesn't seem to be a supporter of any particular party from a look at what he's tweeting.

To those who don't value freedom and independence of the press, it is funny.

To those that put their party above all, it is funny.

To the rest of us, it is not funny.

I'm starting to think your man Phil Ryan isn't the full bob.

'Pile ons' happen across social media, it isn't particularly a SF issue though. Peoplr get abuse from all sorts and for all sorts of reasons.

You cannot deny journalists who publish anything critical of SF are lambasted on social media. That does not happen to the same extent with other political parties. I'm actually surprised at the level of English those in Serbian Troll farms have.

People are free to answer back too blanch, within reason.
Posting a 'backfire' meme when you believe something has backfired on a journalist's agenda driven piece is perfectly ok.

You and I have freedom to be critical...why are journalists above criticism?

    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/politics/sinn-fein-td-cant-saywhere-party-stores-voter-info-as-it-is-an-it-question-40341369.html

It comes after Sinn Féin housing spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin confirmed he “consensually” elicits personal details from Facebook users but said he stores the information in his memory rather than using the Abú system. Mr Ó Broin also refused to reveal the location of the party’s voter database despite repeated questions this week.

It's amazing that we have a TD with an eidetic memory. It must have been frustrating for Eoin to have to deal with Gerry Adams - a man with an extremely selective memory.

You see, if that kind of snide remark was made on Twitter it would be classified as abusive and lambasting by the over sensitive. Ever hear the 'you can give it, but not take it' line?

I'm not denying that some stuff from all types on social media oversteps a line to be abuse. But the vast majority of it is along the lines of what you just wrote yourself.

For the majority of people in this country, people sympathetic to SF posting a shooting meme is not a source of amusement, no matter the excuse that it is a "backfire" meme. That is the legacy of their long association with a terrorist organisation.

    SF just don't get this.

Saw it described as Shinnister earlier - the act of Sinn Féin doing something they consider normal but no one else does.

    Very witty I must say.

He remembers 100s of peoples names and addresses.

    Ah now lads.

Surely noone here can believe that.

    Or can they?

Eoin is the Garret FitzGerald of SF - a man of quite remarkable intellect.

Shinnister, what a great adjective, its meaning is absolutely clear, but chilling.

    100s?

That wouldn't be enough to get him elected. His remarkable memory must remember thousands of names and addresses. I sincerely hope that he leaves his brain to science when he passes on, it would make for fascinating study. What an amazing person he must be to have a memory like that.

    Heard Matt Carthy this morning.

Shouted down everyone and said let's leave it to the law to see if there was any wrong doing and we shouldn't discuss it.

Totally different to the SF stance on other political parties.

The cult will swallow it. The same cult who gave Leo a lambasting for eating out while likening Eoin Sea Bass with Chardeney photos..........

Matt was irrate the guide book given to SF TD's and canvassers on how to use Facebook to garner votes and voters was exposed by the Indo.

Of course he said he hadn't seen it.

Mike Reid on LMFM was flabbergasted.

Matt said let the law decide and wouldn't answer anymore questions.

    It's a conspiracy i tell ya.

    Did he say 100's?

If he forgot any, he could just look up the Electoral Register.

Go to an event here with Heather Humphries...phenomenal and much remarked ability to remember names. Some politician's are good at it.

Or they just use Facebook to pinpoint someones address and pay a visit to their house.

Which would be a breach of GDPR. In which case they should be fined.

    Why?

He doesn't seem all there. Tweeting and writing about SF non stop. A bizarre character.

Heather learned her trade craft from Seymour Crawford. One of the finest door-to-door until it's bedtime politicians that the country has seen. Bertie was another cut from that cloth.

Remembering names, addresses, and information gleaned from Facebook data trawling is at a whole different level though. Extraordinary.

Not sure you're grasping the conversation.

    Or you're deflecting.

Oh yeah sorry I know now.
