Just don't vote in the TD's that are clearly robbing the tax payer. Questions need to be asked why a Dublin based TD required full expenses.

When you see the Healy Rae boys and they are claiming the exact same expenses/mileage etc and have the whole family on the pay roll you know the whole system is rotten to the core.

Don't think either that SF are not ripping off everyone the exact same way either. The TD Ward got caught out but they are all doing the exact same.

FWIW 98k is probably a fair salary for someone as important as a TD. If you want able, go-getters running it has to offer some financial security for the representative's family. Bear in mind too that outside of SF usually candidates fund their own campaigning - posters etc.

Make it too low and you'll have only the partisans the already rich (funny how its the privately educated posh kids Mary Lou and Eoin O B, criticising) running which is undemocratic imo. That's before you get into the temptation to corruption etc

What should be banned I think is that political parties not be allowed "top up" salaries for political representatives where the person doesn't do a role separate to the political job. To clarify on this - some elected TDs/Senators might hold a role as a treasurer or whatever within the national party and receive a minor stipend - that's fine I think. Where you have a privately paid group of councillors dependent on political funding is a problem though.

We're not getting these "go-getters" though....the vast majority of our TDs are county councillors,who have risen to their level of incompetence (hence why we have record number of ministerial advisors )

The wage is probably in line with the job to be honest, especially with the current carry on and online abuse of people trying to do a job.
I question the ability of TD's to hire family members and more or less fund 4-5 family members for not much.

Other TDS have refused that increase but did not feel the need to post it on social media. What she done is the equivalent of going over buying a homeless person a meal and taking a video of yourself doing it then posting it on social media for likes. Self praise is no praise. She is in a comfortable position where she already makes a decent wage and her husband also and as i have said already she will claim that back in expenses and whatever donations fall at her feet. It is insincere and it is fake and is just a show to try to make her look like a god to her supporters.

What other TD's? How do you know this? You could say the same of almost all FG TD's they're literally millionaires and yet they accept everything thrown their way. Spin that **** all you want but actions speak louder than words. It's literally putting your money where your mouth is.

They get really sniffy and upset when other politicians expose that system for the gravy train it is.
