In fairness, with no fastest qualifier slots available, the races are always likely to be quite slow. In fact, Síofra and Georgie had the two fastest times of all the non-qualifiers, and were faster than a full half of the runners that did qualify. In hindsight, they'll probably feel they should have went out harder, but that's easy to say after the race is run

I understand what you are saying, but a slow race is fine if you know you can out-kick people. Otherwise its risky.

Losing out to someone whose PB is 3 seconds slower than your own - in my view it shouldnt happen. Its a learning experience though, not the worst place for it to happen.

Really happy to see Phil Healy make the final.

She’s going to be really up against it in the final. Femke Bol is a huge talent. I can see her running low 50:xx in the final. Swiety-Ersetic also looked good setting a new Polish NR.

The bronze may be up for grabs though. It depends on how well Lieke Klaver runs. She looks off the boil at the moment.

    Peter Collins was in bits.

Great tribute to Jerry in fairness....you'd really miss him in the studio

english was steeped, on the positve side he done thebare min to get through

  • Registered Users Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Caprica

Crikey, I thought English was down there to much looking behind him. I don’t think he stepped of the track, a few were DQ’d last night. He was working hard in the home straight.

Well done Cian McPhillips, very impressive. He looked right at home there. The Andorra kit is fairly bright and cheery.

M.English always has a bit of that in him.

He looked pretty comfortable, amazing for an 18 year old

the 800 is wide wide open, if either make the final any medal is possible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,016 ✭✭✭Itziger

Jeeeez, that bloody Dutch one ran like a drunk Offaly farmer there. Affected 3 or 4 athletes, especially Bahta and the little Brit.

jacob will destroy them, wont take any chances with the polish phantom. gurley should get the bronze but anything could happen

That was more than a little jostle for position by Ingebrigtsen at the start there.

Get that Pace graphic off the screen, distracting.

    Front running power!

  • Registered Users Posts: 881 ✭✭✭Caprica

Well done Ingebritsen. He really took the race to them but I thought Lewandoski was mounting a challenge on the final bend and was going to get him. 7th and 10th for the Irish lads, respectable.

A good night of athletics. I was very impressed with Thiam in the Pentathlon.

We've already had more finalists than we had in 2019 btw.

Mark English and Ciara Mageean were the only ones then. Robinson, Coscoran and Healy so far this time around.
