Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SIRO - what's it like & which provider?

We are looking at moving to a new place, which is only serviced by SIRO.

SIRO is totally new to me, so I'm trying to research it. I understand it's built on the ESB Network.

I've done a couple of price comparison checks, and it looks like Digiweb provide the best value (their price point for 1GB is the same as Vodafone, Sky for their 500MB).

However, I understand Vodafone is involved in the joint venture of SIRO, so figure they have a vested interest to make it work.

I'd appreciate any insight into SIRO / choosing a provider and and other comments.

As an aside, the place we're looking at is only up the road from where we are now. We are serviced by "normal" Virgin Media internet, so I'm a little lost why the place up the road doesn't have a "normal" connection.

Have it a month now with no issues through Digiweb.

Right now I'm getting 500 mbs wirelessly

Thanks, petes. Just had a quick check on my phone and that’s double what I’m getting now.

I like the idea of Digiweb being Irish. They have rave reviews on TrustPilot.

But at the same time, my perception is Virgin Media would have significant infrastructure and staff. The problems I’ve had w Virgin have been few and far between and always helpful via their Twitter account.

I've a mobile contract with Virgin and never really needed to contact them.

I haven't gotten around to testing the speed with a wired connection as the installer ran off with my spare cable ha!

Had one issue with Digiweb and they were on to it really quick, wasn't even any their end, just changed which wireless channel I was using.

I have PURE and no issues.

It's a common issue that people test their connection over wifi. I've seen people with 2.4GHz repeaters that complained they only got 50Mb from a gig connection. Lot of the time, the connection is fine, it's the devices or internal setup.

Thanks, TheDriver. I think PURE are even cheaper (their reduced rate is for 12 months, albeit for 500mbs). Their TrustPilot reviews don't instil confidence, but of course you cannot rely solely on those.

PURE only do Gig. I've had no issues, they've been exactly what I expected. Compared to VF who I have had to bring to comreg 3 times over billing issues that went unsolved. It's a joy being able to ring a number and it is answered rather than endless automated systems.

Huh, the SIRO website shows PURE offering 500MB. But then their websites shows the 1GB option. Interesting. What's their hardware like, or does it really matter?

Ah, thanks. So same as Digiweb. Guess it just boils down to price then? Thanks for your help.

I just noticed that indeed PURE is now doing 500 for 35 a month. They were only doing 1Gig and it was 35 a month, then rose to 40 a month.
Strange why they weren't selling it and now are.
