It's funny cause some people call all crisps/snacks "Tayto" and now seemingly all potato and corn crisps/snacks are made by Tayto (English brand Walkers is the only competitor i can think of. Pringles aren't really crisps).

Independent crisp makers like Sam Spud, Perri, KP, Hunky Dory's, Real McCoy, King now are all owned/made by Tayto.

Will this be bad for consumers in the long run because with a distinct lack of competition they can charge what they like.

And I believe they are starting to flex their muscles cause a share bag of Meanies costs €2.

Keogh's are still independent and not made by Tayto.

O 'Donnel's, on the other hand, despite the story, are made by Tayto.

even the fake hunky dorys from aldi are made by tayto . it's actually genius when you think about it, cos it gives people a cheaper option while keeping the market and keeps their brand on mind.

Tayto were actually acquired, not the acquirer here - Largo just rebranded to it as the brand was bigger than their own (Hunky Dorys, Perri, Sam Spudz) individually. Some of the other brands are from the company that later bought Largo; but that company still exists as a subsidiary at least.

This is where the rename gets confusing

Tayto - the 1955 old company - were sold by C&C to Largo

Largo were bought by Intersnack and later renamed to Tayto Snacks Ltd.
