    Do the Gardai look at the number of firearms in a house or assigned to an individual?

    When I was getting my last one the number of guns in the house between my Dad and I came up.

    In my experience they usually start asking questions when you get up to around 8 to 10 firearms.

    That said, there's no basis in law for refusing you a licence based on how many guns you have already.

    And don't take any nonsense about trading one in. They tried that with me last time. I asked if he'd trade his putter for a driver. In fairness my FO is sound and professional.

    I'd be a bit more polite than that but yep, I wouldn't be trading one for another either. :D

    They can look all they want, If you have the facilities and reason for usage explained you can have as many as you like, I think ive tested that to the max over the years ;-)
