If I really disliked a flag the symbolism wouldn't matter but I do love to learn what they mean and it could sway me if it the symbolism was particularly good.

I usually look up something before I vote or sometimes I'll vote because I like the look of something, & then ill have a read up afterwards. But tonight I haven't looked up a single thing because I'm all over the place.ace. so I appreciate the effort of others looking up the info & taking the time to actually then post it :)

    Definitely will.

What time tomorrow are you kicking off? So I miss nothing.

Where are we up too Omackeral?

Is little over ,? ,if so sorry I got sidetracked this evening

I looked over and I would have voted for the qualifier in every bout I missed except one which I mention below. Was really surprised when reading over thread thinking that Maori flag would go out but thankfully it stayed.

    I really loved these flags:
Northern Territory, Central Province, Tino Rangatiratanga

One result I didn't agree with
Guam v Gambier Islands. Guam looks like a cheap holiday brochure. I really liked the Gambier Islands flag. My vote wouldn't have changed the result though.

Really love these tournaments Omackeral. Thanks for running another one. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Haha that's exactly what it looks like.

We have 11 matches left in Round 1. A lot of beef to get through. I might get some late afternoon matches up but the majority will be in the evening I'd imagine.

    :o & I said it looked .... 'inviting'.

You can tell how deep my pockets go :D

I never do holidays because I don't fly (control issues they tell me) so I actually wouldn't recognise the difference in a cheap holiday brochure or a luxury holiday brochure.

I really liked the Gambier Islands flag and spent a while reading about the islands last night. The photos of there are very pretty and the history was really interesting too.

I have to bring a family member shopping today so I will be around to vote but I might not be able to research in late afternoon. Will be around for evening ones though.

    Kathleen!
You need to take a month off, get on a boat to Europe & travel everywhere by luxury train.
I can't wait to travel again........

I don't know what kind of person I am but I really never hankered after travelling to far away places. Just boring I guess.

    Eastern highlands. Same reason. Odd

Agreed. Although Morph carrying a bit of a tree is a bit weird too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,454 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

    Eastern Highlands please.

That shell on the other looks awkward and west new britain sounds like someone trying to rename Ireland.

Eastern Highlands, the shell looks like a bad Photoshop job on the other flag

I'm voting for the dude with dodgy twig placement :D 'cause that shell

    Eastern Highlands

Don't really like either, but Eastern Highlands is better than the weird shell on the other one.

    Eastern Highlands.

For what it's worth I actually prefer the flag of New Ireland to our own Ireland flag. Could be a dark horse in this.

Let's see if East New Britain can avenge its pal...

    Eastern Highlands for me

I love that colour green and the ring of stars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,272 ✭✭✭Barna77

    Pohnpei

East New Britain is as scary as Old Britain

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭ari101

    East New Britain

I don't love either and I'm not sure this is a great flag but I think the Halloween like drawings in there deserve a vote :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

I'll go for East New Britain just for the randomness of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,920 ✭✭✭cee_jay

    Pohnpei.

East New Britain is all kinds of awful!

    Pohnpei please

The other looks a bit all over the shop and east new britain sounds like someone trying to rename holland

ENB its kinda spooky for a flag. I'd be disappointed if there wasn't an interesting story behind reasoning of the ghouls..

    East New Britain

Pohnpei, the other one looks like something kids made for Halloween. Incidentally I have a book about the Pohnpei football team on my Kindle that I plan to read soon. Never heard of the place before that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Just did a count and recount it appears that ENB was ahead by one when the 20 minute deadline passed.

    East New Britain advances

I like both but vote goes to Austral Islands

    For the hourglass lady pic

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,340 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

East Sepik, PNG are really showing the Aussies how to do decent variations on a basic template.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭ari101

Austral Islands, championing the Marilyn Monroe curves :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

East Sepik like I said before I love that shade of green and the gold against the red is very attractive.

Not a fan of the dress on the other flag.

Ha! First thing I saw too.

Gets my vote for the same reason

Austral Islands. It's different and I'm tiring a bit of that two tailed bird on the PNG flags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,715 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

ES - the other one is a bit Starbucksish
