Can't understand why Tiago doesn't shoot on goal more, he gets into that position quite often (edge of the box, running on goal) and never pulls the trigger..... Nice to see him having a bang at it this evening.

Liverpool won but they just don't have "it" anymore. Need someone like Reus in there. Wouldn't leave BVB, but if the money was right and Klopp being in charge you never know

Bit old now but he'd be class anywhere across the front 3.

When fit, best player in the world imo, problem is keeping him fit. Would suit how Liverpool play, his combination of vision and passing is on another level

Did well yesterday apart from the inevitable begging-them-to-score against us in the second half. Other teams don't turn down that chance.

I agree Thiago should shoot more. Quite a Coutinho-esque goal.

No, they need their CBs back, and they need Henderson back.

Too little is made of the fact that without any of Matip, Gomez and VVD, we don't have defenders who, when they have the ball, can commit the first line of the opposition's press. Because the opposition know they can either dribble or ping a pass through or over the lines, they have to try and press. Against Phillips and Kabak/Williams, as great as Phillips has been for his level, they can't do that. So the opposition can be extremely choosy about when to press our CBs (i.e. when someone is isolated or takes a bad touch).

Never mind the fact that VVD and Gomez have the recovery pace needed for a high line.

Never mind the fact no VVD or Matip means we've had zero threat from corners or set pieces for months.

Never mind the fact Henderson is the best in the league at pressing the ball, especially when the opposition are clearing, therefore enabling us to stay high up the pitch - particularly our full backs.

    We'll be fine.

That was Mo Salah's 12th assist for Sadio Mané - three more than he's assisted any other teammate for Liverpool. Man shrugging #LFC

We really don't deserve CL football next season, but, if we somehow get it, we'll gladly take it, tbh it might be a good thing long term to miss out as it shows there are consequences for not performing up to the required standard, getting top 4 might just paper over the cracks and all the issues we've had this season might be explained away due to our injuries and while they are a contributing part, there's a lot of other issues which need to be sorted out over the summer.

Whoever finishes in top 4 deserves it. If it happens to be us, we will deserve it.

Bit of a papering over the cracks performance last night.
Both teams with 11 shots on goal, 6 on target each.
1 nil lead till the last minute. Could easily have gone the same way as Leeds and Newcastle if Ings had played.

Again tho, we were the better team, but only just. These are the games we saw out comfortably the last few seasons.
A win is still a win tho, badly needed 3 points.
Still praying for a top 4 spot tho, however unlikely it is but still kind of hoping we drop out of the europa league/europa conference if we don't hit 4th.

A good read here on Elliott from Opta Joe's Liverpool statistician & analyst.

Is Harvey Elliott Ready to Step up Into the Premier League?
Two years ago today, an already-relegated Fulham side suffered a 1-0 defeat away at Wolves on the penultimate weekend of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

A run-of-the-mill top-flight match on the face of it, this game was hugely significant for Harvey Elliott. In the 88th minute, Elliott came on as a substitute in place of André-Frank Zambo Anguissa. Aged just 16 years and 30 days, he became the youngest player ever to feature in a Premier League match.

Elliott overtook the previous record-holder Matthew Briggs, who had also set the record when turning out for Fulham, doing so at the age of 16 years and 68 days in May 2007.

Since then, Elliott has earned a move to Liverpool, reigning European champions at the time, where he won a Premier League winners’ medal, before enjoying a breakthrough campaign on loan at Blackburn in the Championship.

It’s been a whirlwind couple of years. And the signs are that it won’t stop anytime soon for the youngster.

Despite spending most of this season on loan at Blackburn and only turning 18 last month, Elliott has already racked up nine appearances for Liverpool’s first team.

Indeed, in the Reds’ entire club history dating back to 1892, there have been just 11 instances of a player appearing for the senior side in a competitive match when aged 16. Harvey Elliott is responsible for seven of those 11 (64%)..........

The Times reporting that Bissouma has handed in a transfer request

I hope we have something to do with that.

I think he'd be the perfect replacement for Gini.

Mali are in the AFCON 21 so I doubt it.
We'll already loose a few players to it. One more won't help.

This team needs a serious upheaval, starting with mane and Bobby, poor Williams will never make it as a pl cb, the team is very fragile at the minute, a bit like when klopp first joined

That's true, but, I don't think we will finish in the top 4 so hence why I think we don't deserve CL next season.

    A big upheaval/overhaul isn't really needed.
Gini is gone, he needs replacing.
Bobby needs to either start playing better or move on, he's shown no signs of improving and has massively declined over the last 18 months so I wouldn't be too sorry to see him go. His fee would get him replaced with a younger, 22/23 year old.
Hopefully we add a CB, probably Konate and with the others coming back, plus Kabak (maybe) signing we're good there.
Minamino will be sold I think, if he goes, again his fee will be used to replace him. If he stays he's a decent player to make up squads and put in a shift when needed.

We've a lot of dead wood floating round. €10/15m players. Get them sold and we could have a very good squad next year for a net cost of €50/60/70m which isn't an extortionate amount for a PL team who wants to challenge.
If we don't have the horrendous injury list of this season we could have a great season.

Klopp says minamino still has a future at Liverpool. Can't see how. He's not done much for us or shampton since joining.

I'm in no rush to be getting rid of Bobby. He offers something in his all round game that's game changing, when he's at it. Get rid of Origi and buy a replacement who can be part of a 5/6 player front three who can be rotated and compete. Origi doesn't offer any competition for the front three at all. Jota has made a difference and will hopefully push on further. Another signing of that ilk while holding onto Bobby makes us stronger.

Just looking for a couple of wins and a small hint of form ahead of next season lads.

There’s a lot of gnashing and grinding of teeth and still anxiety over results. Top 4 isn’t happening. Once you accept that as a reality, it’s worth focusing on:

    - unbeaten in two months (9 games), last loss was March 7th
    - 5 clean sheets in that span

I think the team may be moving back into a space where they emotionally feel hard done by. They’ve lost 4 league points late during this span and somehow failed to score against Real in the European Cup. This is good, it rebuilds the well going into next season.

Something like W2D1L1 from the last four league games would be okay and mean the team roughly feels on an upward curve to round out the season.

The team is currently dysfunctional without both its best player and Captain. That’s okay. It’s all about finishing out with a little bit of momentum and setting it up for a bad reset to begin next year.

We can assume Konate and Kabak will be bought.
    Origi will go to wolves
    Keita has to go
    Shaq has to go
    Wilson has to go
    Gini is leaving
    Williams has to go
Matip had to go in jan (once we are sure every other CB is solid)
    I would keep the ox.
We then have to bring in a forward that is a natural starting goal scorer.
T is a question of funds.
100% keep Firmino but if we have to cash in to get in the next ten player then it is a no brainier to get the money for him.
He is so **** for so long I’d be surprised if we got 50 million for him

We're doing out part, but for those two late late goals conceded we'd be doing even more. Leicester are doing their part too..
