Can a bank certify documents?

    Hi all

I am in the process of opening a bank account with HSBC in the U.K.

They are processing my application online but have asked for certified proof of my address (I.e. a bank statement) and certified copy of my passport. They have advised that I can get this done in my local bank. I have previously got documents certified in a Garda station. If I go into a Bank of Ireland branch with a copy of my BOI statement and passport, will they be able to certify the documents? Thanks
