Just an observation but why do Amazon insist on using the sleeve type packaging?
I've just received the fifth delivery so far this year with the sleeve crushed and open and half the contents missing. I've complained on several occasions and have sent all the previous shipments back, so what with delivery and return charges, it has to be cheaper to use boxes.

Noticed this myself in the last few months, I'm not impressed.
I rely on getting cardboard boxes, I must have gotten a hundred of them in the last year to tidy out the house.

I received another subscription delivery of the 45 toilet rolls. This time however it was in a huge box and also in additional plastic packaging. I'm going to cancel further subscriptions as it really does seem anti-climate now plus the savings will reduce from needing more green bin collections.

The ring doorbell is also well worth the money - very happy with it being hardwired and getting announcements on my Alexas.

Did you have to get a transformer for your doorbell? Does your existing chime still work?

Just bought this £6.99 after applying an £8.00 voucher. Looking for something to help take family pics. Stick might be better out and about. Tripod maybe for home

    Where is the voucher?
I usually see them at the add to basket stage, but not on this one

Typically the story is following: if you can't see the voucher, you're too late.

so you buy stuff from amazon (which lets face it, you probably don't really need :)) so that you can use the cardboard boxes which it sometimes gets shipped in to pack stuff away.

call this a mad idea, but why dot you just buy some cardboard boxes if you rely in them so badly?

Plus if you bought the cardboard boxes on amazon they might come in a cardboard box, so 1 free...

Got the wired one during the week. My transformer is integrated in my fuse box and have an 8V doorbell chime on the wall. Simple matter of bypassing the existing doorbell chime with the cable provided and replacing the old doorbell with the Ring. Done!! However the old chime is now useless. Use your phone, an echo device or get an Amazon Chime instead.

The Ring app has an excellent step-by-step installation guide which is pretty foolproof.

    I'm no electrician!!

Mine also says 8V 1A on the top of it and 220-240V 50Hz on the bottom of it which I know is compatible with the Ring.

Someone smarter than me will know what these actually mean!

I had a standard traditional doorbell. My ring runs off whatever transformer was there without a problem. I got the chime, one of the big things for me was being sure that the bell I heard was mine and not a neighbour's.

€60 but if anyone is really looking for one....

Personally I've replaced it with an Nvidia Shield though. I must stick it up on Adverts or something.

My nvidia is still In the box since they came out. Must use it one of these days if I can figure out what it does :)

Fantastic piece of kit. Performance is great and totally customisable home page (as opposed to getting ads for all sorts pushed at you with the FireStick).

I use mine as a Plex client, IPTV client, Amazon Prime and Apple TV primarily but I've also side-loaded the Irish Radioplayer app and a few others onto it.

I should have bought one ages ago :)

Anyone used a installation service for Ring that they'd recommend? I'll probably burn the house down if I try to do it myself.

I only buy what I need, did you miss the bit where I said I was tidying out the house, I actually tidied out a few houses.

I bought alot of necessities during lockdown instead of going to the shops.

Good boxes are quite expensive, much easier to get them off Amazon when I order stuff.

Came across this crowd who are charging €200 for the device and installation. Given that you can buy the device for €40 (without the chime), that is a spectacular installation charge, even by Irish standards, for 10/15 minutes work.

I installed it myself, it was really easy. The transformer that was there already worked fine, I wasn't sure so I took a photo of it and asked an electrician I know.
If you already have this it's really a simple job.

On another note i have it wired to my doorbell chime which was worked off my existing doorbell. It just took a few setting changes in the app. ( mechainal not ditigal chime) and it worked. Better that the ring chime, in my opinion, as if WiFi goes down as long as there's electricity or battery it rings in the house.

No, they are giving you the discount on the ex vat amount but charging Vat on the usual selling price. The £12.46 is 23% of the £54.16.

If you get onto customer service they may refund you 50% of the import fees.

In two minds to post this as I'm in two minds if I should buy it. The price is good but checking 3c's its probably only a £10 reduction over what you can often get it for. Its a bare unit so don't even think about it unless you already have dewalt XR batteries and charger. The pros are the torque, metal gear case all metal chuck and size/ergonomics (I used one I borrowed only last week) plus I'm already well into Dewalt stuff and and a load of batteries - I'm trying to sell it to myself. Oh s0d it a second drill driver would come in handy so I'm buying it.

    DEWALT DCD796N 18v XR Li-Ion Brushless Compact Combi Hammer, 18 W, 18 V, Yellow/Black £66.63 for us.

Checking around the bare tool is about €110 here. Remember its just the bare drill no batteries!

i ordered one on 23rd of April and it still has not shipped. estimate July

Paid around £45 for the non-waterproof version of this last year. Great piece of kit, if you can get the waterproof version for this price it's a brilliant deal. Even the £39 the other poster quoted is more than decent.

Yes, I got the ring doorbell working with the existing wired doorbell chime. I didn't think it was possible at first either.
Took a bit of time to see it in the settings as its not 100% obvious. Go to the ring app, select the divuce, settings, in home chime settings, advanced, mechanical.
Works for me ring 2 and I set it up like that for my sister who had a ring wired too.
It's just as easy as removing old button and installing ring.
Then go through the settings. If it rings oddly try changing from ditigal to mechanical or vice versea.
