Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Last week the player didn't move, was pinned at the time and O'Mahony put his whole shoulder and elbow flat into the hit. It lacked the characteristics of a clear out and looked much more like he was putting a marker down.

Fagerson's red looked like he tried to get under and lift the player and got it wrong.

I think he definitely wanted to put down a marker. I don’t think he deliberately hit him in the head tho.

Anyways, off topic. This is turnout out to be a cracking game.

Always nice to see Hogg get burned.

    Fun game to watch this.

A red card in rugby means that you lost the game. It’s almost impossible to win a match with 14 men.

That's the point. Don't want to cost your team the match? Don't shoulder anyone to the head.

It might take a bit of time but players will figure it out eventually. If we get some short term pain for a safer game, it will be worth it.

So how does the breakdown get fixed? Rolling in earlier game led to serious injury, arriving at pace is resulting in these hits (even if they're trying to stay low)? You can see why teams are relying on kicking ball / keeping it super tight so players don't get isolated.

Radical idea - the jackal who gets there first takes the ball. Clearing out is basically hitting a player in a vulnerable position without the ball. Let him take it and then tackle him legally?

Mad to think that LRZ is only in because of Adams’ cock up.
    Pivac’s luck is astonishing.

That's a huge miss by Sheedy

At some stage the punishment has to match the crime.

Let's allow impacts against the head but only punish them when someone is knocked out.

Do you think at all before you type?

Head impacts need to stop, period.

Rugby would be better to watch with far fewer injuries if the jackal was removed from the game

Getting a huge sense of deja vu today.

If the impact to the head is an issue because of player welfare then when a hit to the head is sufficiently bad that it warrants a red card in the name of safety it should warrant an automatic HIA for the player who got hit.

It’s either about player safety or it’s not.

You can’t have it both ways.

When a player is tackled in the air how they land determines the sanction. Why not apply that rationale here.

Most players have figured that out.

Some players are unlucky because the game moves so fast.

Price should be shot for that.

How can a scrum half be so clueless about rugby?

    That's a fantastic touch finder.

Russell and Price are both a liability when it comes to the crunch time.

Allowing poaching in a ruck has caused far more injuries than it is worth to the game. I'm thinking of Paul O'Connell, Dan Leavy and today Jack Willis for England. It's a very vulnerable position. And you can't expect the opposition to leave you there and take the ball without trying to clear you out. There should be no hands on the ball once a tackle is completed and to win a turnover you should have to ruck past the ball.

Much of the time a HIA is performed. At the same time if someone shoots at me and misses, I don't need to be checked for gunshot wounds, that doesn't mean I haven't been shot at.

Reckless play is reckless play - if you put a player in serious jeopardy you should be sanctioned.
Some players are unlucky because the game moves so fast.

Some players are idiots who continually fall foul of the same rules.

And Wales scutter their way to another tight win over 14 men. All aboard the hype train!

    Hard luck Scotland

Frustrating how Scotland shot themselves in the foot. This Wales team the most mediocre championship winning side of all time? It seems to be written in the stars.

Was Hogg not tackled before he had the ball?

Delighted with that. John Barclay on Rugby Union weekly during the week talking about a Grand Slam after 1 game. Being dead serious. Typical Scots, like us, when they are favourites they can’t perform.

Hogg screaming for a penalty ... it was game over pal.

Should have been a penalty at the very end there for Scotland. Referee bottles it.

Wales are dog ****, scraping wins against 14 men. I hope England get their act together and steam roll them.

Well he could hardly fecking kick it dead given he was 80 yards from the dead ball line!

Well, that was an enjoyable, some good rugby played....I had the Scots to put that in the bag handily.....if bookies were open I'd have gone Scotland +7. Kudos & fairplay to Wales

They performed pretty well in fairness.
