Laptop for Masters Student

Good evening all, Can anyone recommend a decent laptop for my daughter who is doing her masters at the minute. Her old laptop starting throwing a wobbly today and she lost an ethics form she has been filling in for last 3 weeks!! She had been using an acer but wants to upgrade. Budget is approx €700, less if possible! She will be using it for all college work, research projects, programming. We are looking at currys, harvey norman, laptops direct, powercity, did, littlewoods!!, just getting completely lost! Ideally has 1000 GB of storage. Thanks.

the more recent faster type of ssd storage in laptops in these days don't come in the 1tb/ 1000gb size in that budget range

you could use a usb hard drive for extra storage?

would you use amazon uk? (shopping there post brexit is fine with them - they sort it out)

you can actually add in internally an old style 2.5 inch HDD or sata 3 ssd 2.5 inch if you buy a cable from ebay

(one quirk it has an unusual webcam angle)

Nobody needs 1Tb of storage on a laptop these days. Most typical data is the stuff that you might rarely access. If you have a lot of data to store then use cloud storage or just get an external USB drive. I have a 500MB SSD laptop drive that's only half full for SW development and that includes a couple of hefty M's.
