Most houses there can get gigabit FTTH from any openeir network provider. Some can't and have utterly abysmal speeds

gigabit - 1000mbit - 10x faster than normal phone line broadband ever can be.
FTTH - fibre to the home

Basically, during a period where Eir were specifically sabotaging the National Broadband Programme by doing all the cheap bits, they laid fibre out to the densest bit of Kilmacraddock - meaning those houses can get better broadband than any house in Maynooth town (Virgin Gigabit is much higher latency, and dearer). The sparser houses have really awful mid-00s broadband speeds if anything.

Can you advise which provider has the high power service now? Is it eir?

Do no harm in registering your interest here too for Siro.

You can see the Siro cable braided to the overhead power lines in Kilmacredock, just not rolled out yet to the area...
