Surely a government run campaign should not try and sensationalise. The outcome for the average 18 -24 year is overwhelmingly positive.

You haven't heard about the scars on the lungs after even mild cases. There is a fear that many will need lung transplants over the coming decades.

It's only a few people telling their experiences of Covid.

Sorry if it makes you scared OP. It shouldn't. It's only information.

Young people don't spend too much time consuming media...they need to be frightened into fearing this thing somehow...the rest just watch RTE/TV3 and the rest.

Using tax payers money to frighten young people into compliance of the most backward Covid policy in Europe is typical of these clowns...

It's the socialising of the 18-35 and the risk of spreading it that is the issue. They are the most active group socially and the idea I'd imagine is to highlight the risk to them but more importantly to other at risk groups.

That's the point though. Young people realise that it is unlikely to affect them in a major way. The only reason young people are complying with the guidance is to stop the spread to the at risk.

It's disingenuous and misleading to run a campaign making out young people are at high risk of covid...

That they can get it and be affected badly is not untrue.

There are many medical conditions that can give rise to scars on lungs. Nobody should imagine for one minute that there will be a surge in lung transplants

They should vaccinate people on the way into this rave on paddy's Day. Win-Win

Eh, what? You know that "whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" isn't wholly reliable, right?

It's a guessing game really imo. 14 months ago covid was compared to the flu. 12 months ago it was thought children were super spreaders. 12 months ago people were afraid to touch cash money. No one knows what the long term effects might or may not be.

The mayo clinic have papers on future lung transplants too if you google it. Fingers crossed there won't be too much long term damage

Is there any logic to prioritise the vaccination in 16-25 year olds? Especially with the 1-shot J&J vaccine to stop the infection in the population that spread it the most

The 18-34 group is the cohort they've been looking at as an option. As they socialise a lot more it could be considered to head off infections, plus they may not wait until June/July to keep their lives on hold. If we get to 1m+ doses per month as suggested they'll probably be done in order. If not they may swap them to nearer the top of the 18-54 group.

Maybe MM should go and give joe a bowl of weeds and then bring back as much of their spare vaccines they have in his hand luggage

Micheal Martin is seeking a meeting with AstraZenneca over vaccine supplies... I wonder will he achieved anything from it

Unlikely. They're not hiding any vaccines in the warehouse...

Absolutely and utterly nothing will be achieved... MM just has to be seen to do something... pure optics.

If you believe that you'll believe anything!
WASHINGTON — Tens of millions of doses of the coronavirus vaccine made by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca are sitting idly in American manufacturing facilities, awaiting results from its U.S. clinical trial while countries that have authorized its use beg for access.

It's embarrassing that we have MM and others begging the British and Americans for spare doses.

Now that Biden has said that they will hold onto all vaccines as their priority is American Citizens first and rightly so. All countries are in it for themselves at the end of the day

Begging isn't going to get them anyway. Just makes us look bad when other countries haven't even finished vaccinating their own. They'd be uproar in their own countries.

    I can't stand MM.

He's all optics and no substance. He's the embodiment of FF.

At present astra zeneca is not authorised for use in the USA so the logic is we get a supply and then our supply goes to the USA.

I agree it's not going to work.

If it works happy days. MM knows well it if wasn’t for Covid he’d never survive. This can be his moment. Before we turf him out forever more amen.

I assume the 3% that voted very good are Sinn Fein members/supporters. The way things have gone they're guaranteed to win the next election in my opinion.
