    Yes he did

Not a good look from Martin

Bit of a comedian is our Mickey.

It's not him they're unhappy with. It's MM look at the start

Is it? The clip is nearly all Leo, and MM is laughing at the very start, not smirking (we don't know about what, it's not in the clip)

  • Registered Users Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

I'm the opposite of a Leo fan, but I don't really see an issue with that clip. Leo always has a kind of smirky facial expression, I wouldn't read anything into it.
Same kind of crap went on last year as well. Complaints that Varadkar throwing in movie quotes was making light of a grave situation. That smirks and smiles and jokes with journalists was proof that it was all a game to him.

Some people just want everyone to be sour all the time and will whinge doubly-hard about other people's lack of sourness.

I think it's all down to the context too. There's a big difference between Leo using a Mean Girls quote in a hopeful, rallying address to the nation about the reopening of society to give himself, Sean Astin and others a bit of a giggle, vs Martin cracking a joke and laughing at the expense of an entire industry during a press conference revealing their closure for several more months.

Looking at last night, Leo seemed at the very least a bit more self aware than MM and actually answered the question.

He's entitled to have a bit of banter with someone else, it's in time's like this we need some laughs and banter.

After all everyone has been through isn't it great to see our Micky laughing and joking.
He's showing us that during all this we have to be able to laugh and have fun.

The frontline workers, civil servants and politicians have been working very hard throughout the pandemic.
I think they're not appreciated enough, and I was disgusted with people complaining about the amazing dance routines they shared with us.
It's giving hope to the nation that even when under pressure our senior civil servants are coming up with great ideas to keep us entertained.

NPHET are leading the world with their justified lockdowns and keeping the vunerable and elderly safe and secure.

After all these people paid taxes and worked hard, they're being properly looked after and we all need to keep that in mind.

We just need to keep washing our hands, keep our distance wear our masks and stick within our 5k zones.

I don't know why people are getting annoyed, this will be the final lockdown
    .
Maybe like the Spanish flu it'll dissapear, but I think we're going to have to put an end to big gatherings and applications for small gatherings will be the future.

A bit like a lottery ticket, we pay for the ticket.
Say if only 500 people are allowed to Body and Soul and we'll all have our own pods and mask's etc.
The tickets will obviously be ten times more expensive than usual due to the ratio of the loss in money made for the weekend and the HSE can take say 40% for the ppe provided.

It will, that's what they're saying.
I think it's inevitable that were going to come out of this.
It'll be a new normal, but we'll adapt and have to be more careful for the rest of our lives.

Unless we get to zero covid, there's no point in getting back to normal.

Bill Gates was telling us about viruses for a few year's and he is working very hard on vaccines and scientists for world population.
He deserves an award,as does NPHET

I'm not qualified for an opinion on the new normal, that's up to NPHET and the government and the senior civil servants.

They're the ones who make the rules.

I see they're gonna do away with the €9 substantial meal ****e. So a €9 meal doesn't protect us from the virus anymore? Lol

Was only wondering about this today, where did you see that? Hopefully it is gone along with the 1h45m rule. It looks like there isn't as much of a differentiation between 'wet pubs' and food pubs this time around.. Both seem to be able to open and serve 15 people outdoors from Level 4, and then both seem to be able to open with 'additional restrictions' indoors from Level 3 onwards.

It's already factored into our q2 schedule.

Water charges were justified because money is needed for the maintenance of the water supply system. But the lockdown is much worse than having to pay water charges. So why are many people who protested against those charges not against the lockdown?

it was popular to be anti-water charges.
Speaking out against covid restrictions risks you being considered a crank
