Alaphillipe is a bad place now for me, no way Asgreen beats the other two in any form of effort for race win.

Unless Alaphillipe thinks he can bridge across on the kwaremont, getting a free lift until then anyway

how does van vluetin keep doing that. the strength to ride away and stay 10s in front. remember watching her 100km solo run in 2019 worlds in Yorkshire.

Sounded like Trek had some rubbish tactics if what Longo Borghini said in her interview was correct. She was told to wait for Diegnan.

Men’s Ronde finish:I feel the top spot sprint stunk to high heaven. The race was soooo bought. Is the sponsorship up for renewal in Quick Step by any chance. Just can’t buy it and I think the lethargic afters commentary didn’t either.

This isn't the 80s and of all people Van der Poel would have no reason to need the cash over another monument win

Vinkourov and kolobnev was 2010 for a monument buy out. Not that long ago

If you're going to make stupid accusations like this again, expect to be carded. His third major win (second this season), is a very decent time trialist and classics specialist , finished 2nd in 2019 and 8 seconds back in October.

But yeah, it's fixed. Careful now.

I know I was being a little dramatic there.
Kolobnev was a fair bit dodgier and lower profile than MvdP though. If it was someone else I might entertain the idea but he has no reason whatsoever to be doing deals like that.

Thing about 2010 is Vinokourov probably would have been favorite or the 2 anyway but wanted to be sure which is very different to Asgreen. Also a number of people commented on the fact that MvdP had done too much work way back in the race

    Heavy handed much?
    Never said it was fixed.

However ones need (quick step sponsorship) so much more than the other ( impressive team spring campaign) . It’s not coming from my pocket as no interest, if anything only admiration for VDP but about 300m out you will notice VDP in a mid cassette sprocket , not exactly a 53*12 in calm conditions and no change in gearing, so busy pedalling but not powering away. Asgren is a very impressive rider but no sprinter. It’s not adding up to me nor is the lacklustre celebrations and commiserations. I’m not sure why I can’t have this opinion?

What is the difference between fixed and stinking to high heaven?

  • Registered Users Posts: 78 ✭✭budgie001

Fixed implies a pre defined result. Stinks in this situation to me means that when it became very clear that the front two were to stay away that quick step badly needed the win for commercial reasons, and considering they were up against VDP in a two up with very much the outsider that deals can be done to assure the win.you can’t do that 100km out in a bunch. Hence not fixed

Ah here, quick step win more races than anyone. They don’t ‘badly need’ any win

    You’re spouting nonsense here

For a Belgian team Flanders is everything , Paris Roubaix is second and the rest just don’t compare even though I love the the other 1 day races. I’ve seen Flanders in the flesh twice it’s incredibly big. It is 10all ireland finals rolled into 1. 1.1m normally on the road side.

Are you for ****ing real? As green was brilliant.

The race was fantastic from about 100km out. One of the best classics in years. Van Der Poel, Aliphillipe and Wout van Aert all attacked and Asgreen only marked moves.

Asgreen rode the perfect race against the best one day riders of their generation. Give the man some credit.

Such a brillianr open race. I can't believe anyone thinks that drunk.

    You're talking through your hole.

A little shocked at the abuse here. I haven’t criticised , swore , called anyone stupid (a mod ) etc in any of my posts or replies, incl Asgren who rode extremely well. I simply think that that VDPdidnt give it all in the sprint, and perhaps other forces at play in his ear. Can I just think that and speak it? Without the pitchforks out. It’s not like we have this Uber whiter than white sport

Because stating so in writing with zero proof is libellous.

Drop it now, or take a holiday.
