Cav again! That crash in the finale looked bad, barriers seemed to move a lot.

edit...from the replay he really had Philipsen completely spooked there!

    That sprint was comically uncompetitive.

I can't remember seeing a sprinter open up his sprint, then stop pedaling before going again. It also didn't look like Griepel even sprinted? There was an ISN rider there or thereabouts but didn't look like him.

Cav's interview was brilliant tbf - between not knowing names of other teams or riders and then how he spoke about Jakobsen being upset at seeing the crash in the sprint.

Yeah Cav's interview was great... insightful & personal when instead he could just give boring responses.

I hope everyone is okay from that crash. It was very nasty looking :(

    Bit odd alright.

According to ProCyclingStats he is riding Amstel Gold, Fleche Walking and LBL, so I suppose today is warm-up for those races

this race is lively - Dunbar with a couple of attacks

Looks like Nico Roche ear-marked for the Giro in support of Jai Hindley and Romain Bardet for Team DSM.

    class, brilliant win

cool as a cucumber the whole way in there.

I was willing Cosnefroy to catch and pass them there but wasn't to be. Well deserved win there.

He really deserved that. worked hard, drove the split and was prepared to lose it in order to win it.

I think Van Aert is getting a little desperate -its not quite been the Spring campaign he was expecting

Well done Mr Pidcock, great win!

Really enjoyed that race and nice to see Pidcock get his first win for Ineos in the road. It will be interesting to see his development over next few years.

Since stage 19 of last years tour he’s only finished outside the top 10 twice in all the races he’s ridden and that was 11th and 13th.

And yet you’re still right, it feels like he’s underperforming. Incredible really

Certainly everyone else expected Van Aert and Van Der Poel to completely dominate the one day races this year. They may have even expected it themselves. So far they have "only" Strade Bianche and Gent Wevelgem to show for it. Ala has even less.

Cav nowhere to be seen at the finish in Turkey today. He's past his best :)

Yep the only Tour he's going to is the Tour of San Juan!

A few commentators mentioned that they both came straight from cross season (after a hard autumn road season) so both are well over their peak it looks like.

I think it was WVA's coach who talked about how much deeper both of them went at Tirreno Adriatico than they would have expected and how that explains some of the drop-off.

    Found it here actually.
“Tirreno-Adriatico was so tough, partly due to the weather conditions, that you could not label it as a build-up week. If we had known it was this tough, he might have been better to ride Paris-Nice .”

They did the same last year and it wasn't an issue.

Cross season was after a Tour and Classics in October in 2020/21 so they have had no break
