    Some save by Brambilla!

2nd place for Nico! There's still a bit of a sprint left in his olde legs!

That was a great finishing circuit in Riva. Brilliant second place for Nico - neither he nor De Marchi ever gave up, even when just three seconds off the front.

Great day of racing in the Alps.

Grossschartner (Bora) solo'd to victory from the breakaway.

Nico held on for 2nd, out sprinting Di Marchi just before they were swallowed up by the peloton.

    Simon Yates with the overall.

Romandie starting today. Has to be my favorite tour outside of the grand tours.

Only just noticed Matt Brammeier is the GB head coach for the Olympics

This is one of the shortest prologues in a World Tour race that I can remember

EDIT: the prologue at the Tour of Romandie is always this short :o Last year was even shorter

The Dublin Bus 5 day - 1 lap of the Phoenix Park 2 mile circuit.

I think Julian Dalby did 3.56.

Were you not just asked to not mention it?

A loaded statement from Cycling News today

"That does give Ineos a 1-2-3 for the stage. They are the Mapei of the time trial today."

130th for Froome today. Looking like 5 million well spent there

130th and he's still being talked about. Whether his first or dead last he'll be talked about and that's probably as good as paying 8-9 guys to get in breaks for TV exposure

That strategy will have a short shelf life though unless he can pull some performances out.

He had a really bad crash before christmas. Might still be taking things easy.
At the start of Paris Nice (I think it was) he did a quick call with the commentary team.

I wonder if Kelly doesn't want to do the commentary remotely (i.e. he would prefer to be at the race, or in the Eurosport/GCN studio like he was for the TdF last year)? Or maybe he has crap broadband.

Kelly back in May sometime according to one of the broadcasts from last week.

I remember someone posting about Kelly when he had his accident at Christmas and it was a fairly nasty one from what I recall. I think the ribs were still bothering him. He was on the phone during one of the races earlier in the year.

I think last year he was commentating from the studio in Bath, certainly he was on the aftershow with Dan I think it was. There was a photo of him working away with an absolute library of notes stuck up around him.

Hoping Jake Stewart gets a good result here, has a good rider in Kung looking after him.

Or maybe Kung will do his own thing.

    Surely it will be Sagan

Plenty of congrats for Sagan there, usually a sign of someone being an OK guy.

First time in a few years I've seen him without a beard I think.

Eurosport/ GCN are back doing studio commentary as far as I can make out from a few podcasts that are by, or featured, some of the commentators. Pretty sure I heard on either Tour of the Alps coverage or his podcast that Matt Stephens is travelling to the Giro.

I think they can commentate from both Bath and London though.
